Black Friday

A colleague was almost having a breakdown at lunchtime, panicking about whether she would get into town in time to get any Black Friday bargains.

I asked what, in particular, she needed to buy.

'Nothing' she replied 'But I have to get there I might miss out otherwise'.

She's adamant she will save hundreds of ££££ if she can get there early enough.

My suggestion that she go home and save even more was not appreciated!

How have we come to this situation, that by spending money we are saving it? Be beggars belief, doesn't it? It shows that advertising works! I have not bought one thing today ... well, I tell a little porkie. We (husband and I) popped down to our 'local', i.e. the sea front Palace Hotel and had a shared sandwich and half a pint each, but I gave a tip to our waitress because it is coming Christmas and they will need all the money they can get, waiting staff being generally low-waged, so that was my good deed for the day, too.

I had an almost identical conversation with a colleague too. She thought I was mad NOT going looking for something to buy when she didn't even know what she was going to look for.

She could save hundreds of pounds by not going too lol. In reality a lot of prices were cheaper before and will be cheaper after Black Friday. It is crazy here in America. A lot of the 'Black Friday' sales actually started Thursday night. The shops were closed most of the day because of Thanksgiving and opened in the evening. I feel bad for all the people who had to work. It is driving me crazy.

Wardrobe

We have a wardrobe in the bedroom that was left by the previous resident. It is perfectly sound but it smells of stinky feet. I've tried...
