A neighbour knocked on my door today and asked if I could use a microwave.
I assured him that I could and he brought it round shortly afterwards, for some reason he had two.
It was not new but was very clean and I'm very grateful, it will save me dirtying a saucepan when I make beans on toast for my lunch. I will also use it to make my morning porridge, though I think I'll need a tall measuring jug to make that.
The microwave is currently sat on top of my son's dishwasher, tomorrow I shall spend some time reorganising the stuff on my kitchen work surfaces to make room for the microwave.

How nice of him. People are kind.
I soak and make my daily porridge in a wide glass bowl in the microwave. It saves waste and makes less washing up.
Pyrex type glass jugs are useful for cooking in the microwave.
How kind.
You really seem to have found your safe home.. I'm so pleased for you, it was a big decision to leave Steve.
How kind of him.
What a nice neighbor!
My OH makes his porridge in a shallow pasta type bowl in the microwave. How nice of your neighbour, and it will cost less elelctricity to run. Xx
What a lovely neighbour, it seems like you have found 'your place'. xx
What a kind and very thoughtful neighbour, warms the soul and restores faith in human nature. Jan
I just use my cereal bowl for my porridge, about 2 - 3 minutes. It never boils over. If I think about it, I stir it half way through the cooking time. Less dishes to wash!
Sounds like you've landed in a really lovely neighbourhood where people are kind to each other, so happy for you. I miss that kind of thing, passing things on that you know someone else can make good use . I donate things to charity but it's not the same .
I love how you are getting organised and finding what you need in your new home.
That was kind of your neighbour. We soak oats (and sultanas) overnight in milk which reduces the cooking time.
That was so kind of him.
