I've suffered from shoulder creepies for years, it feels like hundreds of ants are marching up from my shoulder blades. I've had this since I was in my late 40's at least. I mentioned them to my Dr years ago when I was invited to a well woman appointment regarding the menopause. The creepies started a few months before my periods stopped and I wondered if there was a connection.
The Dr assured me there was no connection, she also assured me that although I hadn't had a period for about 6 months I was not starting the menopause, it was probably stress related and that my periods would no doubt restart at some point, they never did and I'm now in my 70s.
Recently I've started itching, again it started with my shoulders and has moved down my arms. My shins also itch, I use an oatmeal moisturiser that helps a little but it's bloody irritating.

When I was desperately trying to figure out my marriage problems, and stressing out about it, I developed severe itching on the palms of my hands. Dr. ruled out detergents, hand cream, etc., and finally diagnosed it as stress. It was so bad I would scrape my palms on the brick fireplace til nearly bloody for relief. A mild tranquilizer was prescribed and that helped.
This is my first comment though I have been reading your blog for ages and am full of admiration for you and how you are dealing with your situation.
Now re your itches, I have the same as you, legs arms and shoulders which usually happens late in the day and not every day so when it starts I take a hayfever tablet that also says for itchy eyes on the packet the brand here in Australia is Telfast I take the 180g tablet it works a treat which means I don't get a disturbed sleep. I'm just about to turn 80. The tablets are non drowsy by the way. Hope this helps. Shirley in Perth Australia.
I had the same thing and my doctor said stress and told me to take a vitamin b complex and use moisturiser. It took a few weeks but did help a lot now I only get flare ups when under a lot of stress.
I have very dry skin and my GP prescribed Epimax moisture cream to wash with and use also to moisturise. When my skin is driving me crazy I take a Cetirizine hayfever tablet. They say they are non drowsy but they make me sleepy so I take it early evening. You can buy them off the shelf in many supermarkets. Cheap as chips!
There is a specific condition called Notalgia Paresthetica, which is apparently a nerve condition which could be due to spinal degeneration etc. it’s chronic and very irritating at times, shoulder blades get very itchy! I know because I’m pretty sure I have it. Tends to be more noticeable in the evenings and at night . It’s one of those things that we just have to put up with I think, but you have my sympathy . The shins, yes, my oh gets that and uses one of those oat based creams.

I sometimes get itchy, but take a hayfever tablet called Fenofexadine. I buy them in Aldi, pretty sure they used to be POM, and then I use Aveeno lotion on my body and in the shower Simple shower lotion. Xx
I googled it and now wonder whether notalgia parasthetica sounds similar - flis xx ( I see Alison in Devon has already commented ) x
