Assumin they are dessert Quinces, then theyare gorgeous! These are the large yellowy fruits. The scent is amazing.
They aren't so great to eat on their own. They are wonderful cooked in with some apple (eg in an apple pie or similar). They also make a really lovely jelly. I love it on crumpets or toast, or rice pudding.
I've also made quince vodka, which is really good too.
(Ornamental quinces from Japonicas, which are small things like crab apples, can also be cooked and are good...but they aren't as delicately flavoured as proper quinces.
