The cat that was wandering along the gunwales reappeared at regular intervals.
CHS was beginning to worry in case it was hungry.
I temped it closer with a bribe of sardines.
I was able to make a fuss of it and assess its condition.
It's not skinny, it's not dehydrated, it's coat is soft and fluffy.
It appears to be well cared for.
I'm assuming it is the local Six Dinner Sid!

My son loved Six Dinner Sid! We still have his copy, but now we read it with our 22 month old grandson!
The house behind us was lived in by a lady (B) who had Parkinson's and her husband. B loved cats but could no longer have any because of her lack of mobility and balance.
One of our cats used to go over there, walk into the house, climb onto B's lap and curl up, purring. Then, as soon as B nodded off, the cat would get down and go off on one of her daily jaunts. B's husband told us that he always knew when B was about to wake again, because our cat would walk back in, climb up on B's lap again, curling up as before. When B woke, she was always thrilled because she thought the cat had been there all the time she was asleep! After B passed away, the cat never even went into their garden anymore!
And people call them dumb animals!
@Col ~ That's a cute story! Our family cat is definitely a Six Dinner Sid type ... he has his rounds and I'm sure that each and every family that feeds him thinks that he is THEIR cat LOL Cats can be such a comfort and are most certainly not dumb!!!!
