Walking the dog.

I don't mind walking the dog, I don't mind walking the dog in bad weather. I'm a believer in "There is no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes". Especially here in the U.K. where we rarely suffer from real extremes of bad weather.

What does drive me up the wall, however, is constantly having to open the front door so Beano can check if it is really raining! And if so why can't I stop it raining.

I've just returned from a dog walk and my neighbouring cat lady is stood in the rain trying to persuade her car to go inside before it catches a chill. I usually refer to her cat as Greebo, after Nanny Ogg's cat in Sir Terry Pratchett's books. It's a huge black and white tom cat with an evil expression. Beano is scared of the cat and rushes past it with his eyes averted. But like Nanny Ogg,  the lady still sees her cat as a timid little kitten.

I'm not a fan of walking in rain or cold wind - fortunately, neither is Betty!

Psycho cat was bigger than most jack russells but had a 'I'm tiny and cute' force field which meant that we kept seeing him as a tiny kitten until we got photographic evidence. He was an utter teddy bear to me and DH and a ravening monster to everyone else. Even if he wasn't hissing, growling or displaying his incredibly effective fangs and claws, he had his ways of showing his displeasure. I stopped him widdling on the vicar in the nick of time. Maybe cat lady is equally deluded.

Poor Beano, not being able to turn the sky off. Please pass on gentle scritches, especially when he's not standing at the door.

My cat Miss Sheva sits by the patio door and if its raining flounces away to the front door in the mistaken belief that the weather will be better there, It isn't of course and I often help her out with a push. She's presently fast asleep on top of her cat tower. Xx

Beano is a lucky dog to have you for his loving carer!

Now we only have Ginger, the cat, we don't have to brave the bad weather for dog walks ... although we miss it in many ways. However, Ginger drives me mad as he convinced if it's raining at the back door it won't be raining outside the front door. So he takes turns in sitting at each door asking to be let out ... over and over again!!

Wait until you have a front and back door and you have to check both of them 😊
