Y'day I shopped in Dunelm I bought a tin opener, two pillows, a Christmas bauble and a mattress protector, a thick one that I can sleep on, in case I move before I've got any furniture. Any furniture I buy will be second hand, there are a couple of charity shops that sell furniture that I will visit, but I need to know where I'm going first.
I'm desperate to leave here so I will move as soon as I can even if it means having no furniture to start with. Apart from Beano and my personal effects all I'm taking from here is a mirror, coffee table and bedside cabinet.
I'm also stocking up with tinned food, every week I order one or two tins of food with our supermarket delivery. I have plenty of pasta, rice, pulses, oats, herbs and spices. I will organise a supermarket delivery when I move but I'm not sure how long it will take for me to arrange an internet connection.

Sending you the most positive encouragement for your brave move, you will enjoy the new adventure and peace with just you and Beano. After my divorce many years ago, all I had was what you are taking with you, you will survive and thrive 🙏. Jan in Castle Gresley
Could you have some of Betty's things?
There's lots of us here routing for you Sue, so don't be afraid to ask for help from us. Maybe with a van for moving, or a piece of furniture that might be of use to you. I bet a lot of your readers will endorse my thoughts on this. You've been through hell for quite a long time now and it's time to look out for yourself for a change. Let us help you, if we can. Sandra x
I'm so glad to hear that you are getting ready for your move, whenever it happens. When you're looking for furniture you might find what you need on a local Freecycle group or the equivalent Facebook group. Fingers crossed.
Good idea to stock up on foods that are easily stored without a fridge. Hopefully it won’t be too long before you have a place of your own. Catriona
I recently bought a large sofa from a charity shop - I love it and it was only £75 plus £15 delivery - flis xx
Don't forget when you get your new place, change the address on your grocery delivery app. and any other delivery service. So happy for you! I hope you get a place very soon.
Good you are preparing a stash of needed items. Wishing you the best of luck! Cali
Although i rarely comment, i’m on the sidelines cheering you on! You’ve lasted a lot longer than i would have. I have a friend who had a stroke and it does change you. You have family and friends standing by to help. Best to you!
Just be safe and you and Beano will be okay. We’re rooting for you and praying. Your safety, health and peace of mind are all that is important. When you move, let us know that you are safe when you can. Love and hugs.
I expect things might have changed but you used to be able to get a hardship fund to set up a new home for the basics. I've just looked it up - Shelter has information, it's the local welfare assistance grant or household support fund. You type in your local authority on the Shelter page. I hate to mention it but perhaps this comes under domestic abuse so there might be some help out there. There is help out there it seems, but it is finding it. The Shelter website seems to have a lot of information. A universal credit advance is also mentioned. Speak to your local authority and keep pushing. Best wishes, Ruth
Any chance you could help Betty's family clear her flat and have her furniture?
