Beano.

Beano is fine and seems fully recovered, Unfortunately he is a bit of a scavenger when I'm walking him. If he finds a scrap of discarded chicken or any other tasty morsel he sometime snaffles it and swallows it before I can retrieve what ever it is he's found. He then sometimes pays the price and has an upset tummy.

My garden has been mown, there is a local lady who does a few of the gardens where I live and she has now done mine. One neighbour offered to do my garden but I was reluctant to encourage him. He has a habit of coming over whenever I'm in the garden. He rarely speaks, he just stand beside me. I have a horrible feeling he's hoping I'm going to cook him a meal!  Another neighbour suggested a lady gardner and I went with her. I'm more comfortable dealing with women. Both front and back gardens now look more respectable.

I was given another chest of drawers this morning and I've been offered a TV unit, not that I watch live TV but the unit might look nice in my living room. I've also been given a DVD player so next time I visit a charity shop I will look for some interesting DVD's.

That reminds of my granny , when she was widowed there seemed to a few widowers suddenly dropping round for morning coffee or afternoon tea. She belonged to a lot of social groups crafts, fundraisers et c so had a good circle of friends and she was an excellent cook and baker. She loved to entertain, but she found these visits exhausting as they seemed almost predatory, like they were housekeeper hunting. I'm glad Beano is feeling better now x

When my sister was widowed her poor husband was barely in the ground before she was besieged by an endless procession of elderly men, looking for home comforts. They were shameless in their pursuit.

A good idea to employ a female gardener, easier to talk to and not have any worries about. Neighbours are variable, I have had some lovely neighbours but currently avoid any of mine, especially the men who love to drone on, one loves to come over if I am in the garden and bores me with his stories about himself. Your garden, your personal space, your rules. Establish your boundaries with the stalker.
We had a neighbour who expected everyone to have endless time to listen to him. He held up the village carnival parade to inform the leading policeman that he would be going on holiday in a few weeks, and to watch his house. Pedestrians and dog walkers avoided passing his house.

I'm glad Beano is feeling better now. As all the other commenters are saying establish firm boundaries with the 'stalker', even being blunt and a bit rude if you have to be. Your house, your garden, your rules.

It is lovely to read about how you are enjoying and controlling your own life now that you are able to. So glad to hear that Beano is ok. Our dog is very greedy as all our corgis have been. Thank goodness they don’t have long legs or they would certainly clear the work surface in an instant. Sounds as though Beano is similar 😊 Best wishes from Northern Ireland x

How nice that you are getting lots of extra items for your new place. Sounds like family and friends are being generous with you.

I stopped going to my local gym as I had a succession of elderly men constantly trying to talk to me. I think they thought, she's got a few years left in her, right age to know how to clean and cook and look after all their needslol.

Lazy day.

I've had, for me, a busy couple of days, I'd been given some new to me furniture. I accepted it, but left it in the hall whilst I de...
