It isn't a holiday it's a fecking route march.

Yesterday we lost a many hours when two boats got stuck in a lock together, it took a long time for them to decide who was going to reverse out, and even longer for the reversing to be accomplished. Today we have had to try and make up the hours we lost.

Apart from that until today our biggest crisis afloat was breaking the salt cellar.
Today we outdid that.
The first half of the day was ok, we met up with DD2 and the dgd's, they came to collect dgs, we managed to moor in Thrupp and DD was able to park in a pub car park everything went well, DD even bought some beer with her for Captain Hot Stuff as his supply was running low.
First thing in the morning I had used the washing machine for the first time.
I hung the wet washing on the airer in the prow of the. All went well until the washing was almost dry and then it toppled into the canal and sank without a trace.
This is, of course, all my fault, I had suggested we close the cratch cover to protect the washing but my suggestion was pooh poohed as being ridiculous and pointless!
We will be mooring in Oxford tomorrow and purchasing some new underpants and tea towels!

Oh dear! But of course it was your fault - I have visions of someone joining he laundry in the canal! :-)

At least no one was hurt and there have been no issues with the boat itself so you have made pretty good progress all in all.

Losing your laundry in the cut is something that happens surprisingly often. I'm sure you won't make the same mistake twice. Although it feels like a route march now, you'll always remember this first trip on your own boat. Marty

Even though I know a lot of what you write about is done tongue-in-cheek, if I had to live with Mr. Hot Stuff I would have bailed out a LONG time ago!!! I no longer have the tolerance for always living on the edge with a partner that is always right and I would be alway wrong. No more of that for me!!!

Oh my goodness-I just choked on my tea! The equivalent for a caravanner is to leave the Heika toof window open and discover it's 200 miles away when you stop to refuel! As Marty says-it happens only once! You are certainly getting plenty of exercise this holiday. Seriously, I hope you are enioying learning about your new home and I love hearing about your exploits. Sorry, but I had to laugh. Sounds like a carry on film.

I am so sorry but I had to laugh at your washing sinking into the canal. I could just see it and imagine the look on your faces-x-

I am so enjoying reading about your journey! Yes, as Sals View says, it's like a Carry on Film! Wonderful, keep going, girl!

One day that canal will need dredging and then they will find your knickers and wonder!

Anon, I work on the theory of never letting the truth get in the way of saying good laugh. Captain Hot Stuff is the love of my life and isn't really difficult to live with. He is currently very stressed as we are both learning as we go and he hates making mistakes. Me, I just expect to cock everything up and so I'm more laid back.

My OH is the same, I think it happens to men as they get older. If he can't blame me it's my lovely daughter who gets it. Luckily she is feisty and stands up to him. We all have a good laugh about it. Marriage is always a compromise, just think women can go with the flow more easily. After all we are the more intelligent gender ! Sorry about your washing especially the airier !

Beano is a grumpy old man.

We have two cockerpoos and a maltipoo living near us, both the cockerpoo are male, black and mad, the maltipoo is female, beige and slightly...
