Blogs

I read quite a few blogs, some I have stopped reading as there is a limit to the amount of 'How to knit a 3 course meal from vacuum dust' instructions I can read.

I also find some blogs just too perfect or maybe some people's homes, lives and children really are perfect.

I don't mean the blogs that are about a specific subject, such as Attic 24 or The Patchwork Heart, both crochet blogs that I enjoy. Obviously the photo's on these blogs are perfect but they need to be.

Just in case you are interested, here is a list of just a few of my favourite blogs.

John at Going Gently frequently moves me to tears, tears of sadness when John writes about the loss of one of his beloved dogs and tears of laughter, usually when he writes about his bulldog Winnie and her obsession with the slippers of sex.

Peter and Jane makes me roar with laughter, she doesn't blog very often but posts regularly on Facebook. She tells the truth about family life, warts and all, with her husband, children and judgy dog, the dog seems to disapprove of her alcohol intake.

Weaver of Grass and Magnon's Meanderings are always worth reading, always interesting, as is Always Another Chapter which is written by a writer friend of mine

If you are looking for cheap recipes there is Cooking on a Bootstrap, yes Jack does post political stuff too, but she has lived in real poverty, not the pretend 'Look how little I can spend on food, whilst having three holidays a year and driving a Bentley' crap.
Another blog with cheap recipes is Thrift Cottage.

Also I love to read Katie's Recycle, she is another 'tell it like it is blogger', we share a similar sense of humour and she is the only person I know who's life turns to shit even more often than mine, despite her hard work and best efforts.

Back to the subject of perfect, Devon Dreaming is a new blog with some perfectly beautiful photos of Devon and I'm sure there will be more to come.

If I read your blog and I haven't mentioned you, it's nothing personal, just my crap memory.

Also, I have unsubscribed from some blogs as they depressed me by being too perfect. I used to read about their awesome achievements and feel very flat and pathetic. I like reading good things, but utter and total perfection is blandly dull. x

I read yours because I like your writing style and your warts and all narrative. I enjoy your sense of humour despite life's many hurdles. Catriona

Sorry for deleting my earlier comment - it revealed far too much of our real life and that is not my aim in Blogland.

Oh my dear pal, thank you so much for mentioning my new blog. It will have the name Devon Dreaming once I can figure out how to change the downloaded title which my computer man gave it from Wordpress. Wordpress is a blog you pay for. This is meant to prevent pop up adverts and so far I don't think it's suffered from those, but I find it quite hard to learn ... but it's a whole new learning curve for me, and I will get there, eventually!
Thank you for the kind words re my photos. Today's, of our local harbour, is a teensy weensy bit fuzzy because I'm learning how to reduce the pixels to be under the 2MB that Wordpress allows for the blog. The blog can be seen at www.margaretpowling.com as it's not yet listed under Devon Dreaming. There is another blog of this name (wished I'd realized that!) but it's not me.
I also love John's blog, he makes me scream with laughter - thank you John!
And, of course, your own blog, Hard up Hester! Love it!

I regularly read your 'life-as-it-really-is' blog and admire your ability to post just about every day. I consider my life to be so boring that I struggle to post every week, but if you like photos of Cornwall and hear about my trips out to various Cornish 'quiet places', I'd love to welcome you here - liskerret.blogspot.co.uk . Currently I'm feeling very sad as I recently lost my long-time companion who accompanied me on all my wanderings, but I promise to be more upbeat in future posts! Rosemary x

I used to read Frugal Queen a lot but can't really relate to her anymore, with a holiday house in france and how she is so organised it isn't how it used to be x

Wardrobe

We have a wardrobe in the bedroom that was left by the previous resident. It is perfectly sound but it smells of stinky feet. I've tried...
