Is it a sign?

I've often thought that I should hang a sign on my back when I'm walking Beano or walking to the shop.

The sign would say I'm not pissed, I've had a stroke!

Although it was years ago that I had my stroke my balance is still buggered. I'm more stable on my feet than I was at first but I still wobble a bit and sometimes I stagger. When I first had the stroke I walked with a stick for extra support but Steve hated me using a stick as it made me look old and reflected badly on him so I managed without. I also walk more here than when I lived with Steve as he disliked me going out to the shops or walking Beano. I suggested many times that he was walked Beano with me as I would feel safer, he did finally walk with me on one walk, the day before I left him!

I now need a second sign to hang on Beano when the weather is hot.

This one would say She's not walking me, I'm walking her!

People see me waking along the pavement with Beano and don't realise I'm literally a few meters from my front door. Beano refuses to go to the toilet in his own garden (I've no idea why) and so we walk down the garden path beside my grass, to the pavement where there is a grass verge. There Beano will happily empty himself and then we walk back along the garden path and back indoors.

Use a white stick! People will treat you differently!😉

I often get dizzy spells, and appearing drunk in public is something I worry about as well. I also won't go into shops that have displays that could topple over if I put my hand out to steady myself! My issues stem from pressure on my ears caused by jaw joint issues, and turning my head too much always brings it on. I do carry a card explaining this in my purse, just in case!

Every time you write something more about your ex, I wonder again how you managed to stick with him for so long. What a horrible, self centred man he was. Dogs are funny aren't they.

Corinne makes a good point

It may be time to change your profile. You are no longer married, and you no longer live on a canal. There Are much happier ways to describe yourself.

Who cares what other walkers think? Just get out and enjoy whatever you want. Hope you and Beano have no trouble with the hot weather.

If you are comfortable using a stick then use one. It is far better that you have something with you to let you pause and stabilise, than it is to risk a fall.
I agree with Ana. It's time to update your profile to reflect this new and happy phase of life.

Thanks. I just said that because we had a friend who had eye problems, and he said the bus drivers were much kinder to him when he asked where the bus went to! If he didn't have his white stick, they would make all sorts of disparaging remarks.

Motherhood.

Motherhood is not for everyone, I have a great deal of sympathy for people who wish to become a mother and can not, for whatever reason. I a...
