Despite numerous Road Closed warning signs placed on the main road in to the town centre for the last couple of weeks and an equal number paced at strategic points along the road past our flat. The world and his wife have been stunned and amazed by the fact that the road is closed!
It is carnage outside and in the car park as people are forced to turn around. Some drivers have attempted to avoid the closure by approaching from the housing estate across the road from us. This doesn't work as the roads from the housing estate are also closed.
I think the road will reopen tomorrow, much to the relief of all concerned.

We have a lot of road closures around here. Some of the diversions take you miles out of your way. Mostly it's for resurfacing the road. Pot holes are becoming a big problem. I wonder where they are getting the money from for such repairs. Councils are supposed to be broke.

It's a pain to go through but it is always so nice when the roads are nice and new.
Very similar here - My road has prominent road signs saying that our road is closed - there's digging going on at the top end and traffic cannot get out . . . so when my friend comes to collect me to go for a coffee in the next village, she gets a line of cars following her . . . Then she indicates and pulls into my drive. Oh dear! Only room for one car! The numpties make a right pig's ear of retreating.
