During the summer I have a salad for lunch most days, during the winter I prefer soup, home made soup.
Sometimes I make soup to a specific recipe sometimes I make fridge debris soup. For the last three weeks I've had a yearning for some curried parsnip soup.
For the last three weeks I've added parsnips to our supermarket delivery, unfortunately for two weeks no parsnips arrived.
I just assumed they'd been missed that is until Thursday when out supermarket delivery arrived. I was in the kitchen putting some of it away when Steve walked in grimacing and waving a bag of parsnips.
He's noticed them on the previous orders and cancelled them as he does eat vegetables and so couldn't understand why I'd buy them. I explained my yearning for curried parsnips soup Steve pulled a face and announced that I should have bought tinned parsnips soup rather than waste time making it.
And that attitude is just one of the reasons I'm leaving!

Just think how lovely it'll be to get whatever food you want in your new place. I often have to remind husband that I don't have to buy - or cook - only the food that he likes, that I'm entitled to have preferences too.
He is really making it very easy for you to go isn't he. Silly man, he doesn't realise his loss, one day soon he may just realise.
Parsnip soup is one of my favourites and so warming in this weather. Enjoy! Catriona
Has he forgotten that you are leaving or thinks that you won;t actually go?
He's going to get a shock when you do go. I hope you can move your belongings when he's out and then you can finally leave with your head held high and no looking back. Essie
My daughter loves parsnips, not my favourite but bet you enjoy them. Years ago when i left my first husband I bought a house. Not a perfect house but mine and my children. Lived there fourteen years and loved every day. Get away girl, let you and Beano have peace and gently years. Your daughter is a diamond. I reckon the best is yet to come. Love Andie xxx
Well any ' fine words' Mr Steve might wish to say on your departure will definitely ' butter no parsnips ' on this occasion. Bon appetite my dear!, Sandra
I hope your move goes as planned. It reminds me of when My mum moved us all out of the house while my dad was at work. He didn't know until he got home that night. She had found us a tumbledown cottage to rent which wasn't really fit for purpose, but life was much happier after that.
I love parsnip and smoked bacon soup absolutely delish, I hope you haven't got much longer to endure living with Steve and you can be in your new home soon
I love parsnips! They are hard to find around here and I did try to grow some this year but could not get them to go.
I like them split and cooked in a bit a bacon grease, add a bit of water to get them soft and tender them remove the cover and let them frizzle. OMG enjoy your soup and I hope you are able to move soon. Wouldn't it be great to have your own little Christmas with Beano.
Stay focused on the end game darling girl. The best is yet to come. Hopefully fingers crossed you will have a joyful Christmas. However if not in your new home just delay Christmas and have it in your new home once in. Christmas can be whenever you want it to be…one year we had it in July (Covid) in a heatwave! Sending the best of wishes. June. xx
oh yes its the dismissive attitude because he can only see his own wants and needs, when i moved out of a certain situation the one thing i really noticed was the peace the quiet mornings with a cup of tea,i still relish it i also have a small dog.
