Memory can be a strange thing can't it.
Y'day I was walking Beano when someone stopped to speak to me, she is someone I see regularly when I'm the village. She is very friendly and we often have a brief chat when she makes a fuss of Beano.
She is a tall, well built lady and she was wearing a long floaty top over a vest and trousers, the top was a dark brown leopard print. As I was chatting to her I was suddenly overcome with nausea, I could smell cigarettes and Revlon Intimate perfume. The person I was speaking doesn't smoke. I remember my mother having a dress in an identical print, wearing the Revlon Intimate and she was a very heavy smoker for many years, though she did give up a couple of years before she died.
I felt quite discombobulated for the rest of the day yesterday and I'm still a little bothered by it now.

Hugs.
A horrible feeling. The memory trips you up sometimes with a sound, a pattern, or a smell.
It's good to see that you have changed your profile. It makes more sense now and is much more appropriate. I agreed with comments about changing it but didn't say as I didn't want you to feel hounded. It's a good change.
It is odd how certain things can so strongly evoke a memory.
It's strange how our brains perceive things isn't it. But I guess all our senses are linked to each other, and your visual one was added to with the scents, it's a shame they weren't happier, less nauseous memories though.
Smell has triggered the strongest memories (and once a warning) for me. And it also takes a while for me to realize what evoked that particular memory. Olivia
