Walking Beano

This morning as I was walking Beano someone commented that I obviously lived alone as I was talking to my dog. I smiled politely but thought Actually I've talked to my dog for years because Steve always refused to wear his deaf aids when he was with me he believed I didn't have anything interesting to say.

I had an appointment for a blood test this morning and I collected a prescription for me. I then walked to Cass's as I also collected a prescription for one of her children who is diabetic.

I have a small sewing job to do for someone today apart from that I shall read and snooze.

My life may not be exciting but that's a good thing, I've had far too much excitement in my life sometimes.

Sounds like a happy life!

Your life sounds lovely, and so very peaceful at the moment, and you have really earned that peace. Oh, and I talked to all my animals, sometimes their answers made more sense than any I got from fellow humans.

I always talk to my dog, it's a normal thing to do isn't it?! I'm pretty sure she understands most of what I say....she certainly takes more notice of what I say than my husband does!

Surely everyone talks to their dog/cat - what an odd comment.
I think your life is quiet, peaceful and calm - which sounds ideal

I talk to my dog, and cats even while walking them, and I live with four (or five, when D is at home) other humans. I've always talked to my pets, and yes, my cats come to walks, too. Very odd comment, I'd say.

I don’t live alone and I talk to my dogs, and I talk to myself. Sometimes when I’m walking along and having a robust inner conversation I suddenly realise my lips are moving and I’m speaking out loud. To myself. Fortunately, nowadays, people are used to folks talking, seemingly to themselves, on the phone via Bluetooth so I haven’t been committed…yet….

What an odd comment, obviously they have never owned a dog or a cat. I talk to my daughter’s dogs - apparently they understand as much vocabulary as a toddler. I love the way they put their head on one side as you speak as though they really are considering what you say.

What an odd thing to say! I have talked to all the dogs we have had. We were walking Freddie in a local town, waited for an older couple to go through the gate to the car park, the women blanked us, the man managed a nod, then she said hello to Fred and gave him a big smile. Nout as odd as folks!

Quiet, or even boring, is underrated. I'm glad that you're enjoying your time.

A strange comment but perhaps he/she was just hungry for human contact or conversation.

I always talk to dogs, it's usually the humans that I forget to acknowledge.

I don't live alone and I've always nattered away to my dogs, I talk to any animal or bird that crosses my path too, even plants! I don't have an exciting life either but it is calm and happy for the most part and I'm content not bored, so it's good enough for me. Enjoy your peace and protect it, because it's been well earned and long overdue x

Strange comment to make, bordering on spiteful, in my view. Talking to your dog is quite normal, commenting about people and their private lives isn't. I do wish people would engage their brains before speaking. Carole R.

If you have a dog and are walking it, you should also be talking to it, so we can assume that the person who made such a strange comment knows nothing about dogs. People who know nothing about dogs are also frequently not worth knowing, so there we go!

Oh dear

What a shame!  My first husband has managed to annoy all four of our children simultaneously,  usually he only pisses them off one at a time...
