A local ladies group held a second hand clothing sale today, so I went on a spending spree.
I bought two skirts and lots of t-shirts and tops, they are currently swishing around in my washing machine and will be hung on the line to dry soon.
Two of the white tops I bought knowing that they won't fit me but I'm planning on copying a trick from an old wartime book. I shall cut the sleeves off and cut down the sides, leaving the collar and shoulders intact. I will sew these inside the neck of two dark coloured jumpers. The dark colours don't suit my colouring but the white collars make all the difference.
The weather here is glorious but too hot for Beano who is in and out like a fiddlers elbow. I think I need to find a way to rig up some shade in the garden for him.

That sounds like an excellent plan. You are a genius!
Perhaps a large sun umbrella for Beano , can be put up easily too.
I've just ordered one for him, I bet it rains now.
What a good idea with the t-shirts, a white collar makes a huge difference to a dark jumper or top doesn't it. A sun umbrella for Beano ... and you ... is a brilliant idea.
Clever trick, our grandparents were so inventive with limited resources. If Beano is anything like my Betty, he won't lie in the shade. Thankfully she's quite sensible and comes indoors to cool down after a few minutes of sunbathing.
Great idea on the white shirts.
