What a waste of time. Updated

I spent the afternoon at Cass's waiting for a phone call from the hospital. The call should have been sometime after 1 o'clock.

There was no call so I left Cass's just after 6 pm and came home.

No doubt I will receive a letter at some point complaining because I didn't take the call that didn't arrive.

So far both appointments have been a bust, the first one because they sent a letter to an address I moved from 12 years ago. They then sent a letter to my current address complaining that I was a no show!

And now this one, I sat at Cass's from before 1 o'clock until 6 o'clock and there was no phone call, it's an absolute shit show, it really is.

I eventually received a message late y'day telling me the appointment had been cancelled.

I went to my hospital appointment. I registered at the desk and was put on the computer system as usual, had my forms printed, had my bloods done and got the results, and waited in the clinic, and waited, and waited, and finally complained, only to be told that I wasn’t there. Someone had put me down as not having attended!

When my cousin died suddenly, her son took over the care of his elderly gran, (my aunt) giving up his flat to move in with her. He was brilliant and so caring. Two years later, this 92 year old caught a chest infection from the midday carer. She ended up.im hospital, where she caught COVID. J rang and told me she was dying. I went down to Essex, and we sat by her bed for hours. The day after her death, the phone rang, I answered. They asked for Mrs C(my late cousin) "she's not here, can I take a message' "We are ringing to sort out a visit to assess the suitability of her mother's house, so we can send her home" I told them this would not be needed as she had died!

This is absolutely ridiculous isn't it, and very frustrating.

I note all thes problems arise because of poor admin rather than any fault on the part of NHS medics. Can you imagine how frustrating it is for them too.

This sounds awful. Hope you can get an appointment soon.

There seems to be something about medical settings - I gave my number to the care home for my uncle time and again, but when he went in for the last time, they complained because they didn't have my number!
Good luck!

I know this is yet another thing to do , but in the past I have had help from the PALS ( patient advice and liaison service - there should be one in every trust ) and they have been very helpful , particularly around access to services for people with disabilities- your hospital has treated you very poorly and has probably broken the Equalities act legislation
