Dog walking

Witch Hazel, yes it was in a heartbeat that made me cry.

Today we went to Hounds and  Bounds, an enclosed dog walking area, we could let both dogs of the lead without fear of losing them. It's surrounded by tall fences that are dug in so even digging dogs can't escape. The lower part of the fence is covered with green sheeting so the dogs cannot be stressed by the horses in the adjoining field and vice versa.

DD2 met us there so the children could spend time with Loulou. It cost £10 an hour to hire and was well worth it. We will go again sometime soon and will book one of the woodland walks another time.

We then dropped the dogs back at the boat and did the weekly shop.

I then had a nana nap as I slept very badly last night. I find it stressful when Steve is being difficult.

Made me laugh

TWELVE COMMANDMENTS FOR SENIORS
#1 - Talk to yourself. There are times you need expert advice
#2 - “In Style” are the clothes that still fit.
#3 - You don't need anger management. You need people to stop pissing you off.
#4 - Your people skills are just fine. It's your tolerance for idiots that needs work.
#5 - The biggest lie you tell yourself is, “I don't need to write that down. I'll remember it.”
#6 - “On time” is when you get there.
#7 - Even duct tape can't fix stupid - but it sure does muffle the sound.
#8 - It would be wonderful if we could put ourselves in the dryer for ten minutes, then come out wrinkle-free and three sizes smaller?
#9 - Lately, You've noticed people your age are so much older than you.
#10 - Growing old should have taken longer.
#11 - Aging has slowed you down, but it hasn't shut you up.
#12 - You still haven't learned to act your age, and hope you never will.
And one more:
“One for the road” means peeing before you leave the house.

I'm out

I'm not going anywhere , but I'm out of clean knickers I'm out of hearing aid batteries and I'm out of spoons, so much so that I cried today whilst watching an animation. I don't do crying.

Every evening I light three LED candles, one for all those affected by covid19, one for general healing and one for the three friends murdered in Forbury Gardens.
Yesterday on a pagan group I belong to I was criticised for not using real candles, I love being lectured by idiots who think they know everything. I know many people love candles but I won't use them on a wood lined boat.

Crafty cat, I think a lot of people who grew up in the 50's were the same.

Walking in beauty, yes I swear by arnica cream.

Weaver, a lot of people don't realise the restrictions of boat living, limited water supply, limited power etc.

Comments

Thank you for all your kindness.

Kate yes I got absolutely bugger all sympathy and I made the tea myself.

Unknown, I would have loved a shower after my unexpected dip but we only hot water on the boat if we boil a kettle. Otherwise we need to turn the heating on for an hour and as it was already 27 degrees I didn't want to do that. The other way is to run the engine for an hour but boaters are not allowed to run their engines before 8 am. I settled for boiling a kettle and having a strip wash.

Could have been worse

My knees are purple, but only painful if I kneel on them.
As I fell in fast moving water I'm at less risk of Wiels disease.
And when I said the is deep it isn't, it's only about 4 or 5 feet deep, unfortunately I'm only 4'11 and as I'm 70 next year I need to stop doing stupid things like this.

Steve was, of course, full of sympathy, after asking me if I'd really fallen in or if he'd dreamt it, he immediately asked why the batteries were draining so fast and what was I doing to cause it.

My knee, the bruises are much darker now.

Twas early in the morning

Just had a very exciting start to the day, 5am and Loulou was mithering, I assumed she wanted to go out, I almost went out in my dressing gown but fortunately decided to throw a summer dress on. Put both dogs leads on, opened the baby gate and whoosh, they both took off after a rabbit or something. I had a firm grip on their leads as I never know who or what is in the field. Normally they run straight ahead so I have to gallop along the gangplank. This morning the both bolted to the right and pulled me straight into the water!
It's deep, it's river, not canal, it wasn't  as cold as I'd expected but it was over my head. I managed to get to my feet and climb up the bank, still hanging on to both leads!

I dried off and went back to bed, Steve wondered why my hair was wet. I was trying to get back to sleep when Beano started barking, the cows were chewing on the ropes, so out of bed, different dress on, same shoes so very squelchy. Across the grass to smack the cow on the bum to chase it away, second cow is in the water eating the reeds and gets her legs caught on the rope. I have to persuade her to go backwards, which she does eventually, she's very friendly and stands beside me whilst I scratch her head. Eventually the entire herd make their way to the other end of the field and I return to the boat, still squelching along in wet shoes. I have the most enormous bruises developing on my knees, oh well, the joys of living on a boat.

Spell bags

I suppose the spell bags are a bit like a good luck charm.

Something for the person gifted one to focus on.

I start with a small drawstring calico bag, the bags are about five inches by three.

I choose an appropriate rune to draw on the bag.

I always add some herbs so the bag smells nice, I have some dried herbs and I grow some on the boat that I pick and dry. Lavender and rosemary are both good, I often add chamomile but it doesn't smell very nice. I also pick and dry wild flowers that I find when I'm walking. I'm careful to only pick small amounts, comfrey is one of my favourites.

I have a book about crystals so I look up which ones would be appropriate, rose quartz, amethyst and tigers eye are all good ones.

There are lots of spell recipes on pinterest but I tend to follow my instincts rather than a set recipes.

Steve thinks it's all rubbish but that doesn't bother me, my bags can do no harm and at the very least the recipient knows I care and that I'm thinking of them.

Smoking!

Once again I woke to the smell of cigarette smoke, I don't smoke, I never have. My windows are closed so I've no idea where the smel...
