In one cupboard there are three huge stainless steel casserole pans and a cast iron griddle pan, all are too big to fit on the hob or in the oven. Another cupboard contains a dozen mugs, 17 plastic bowls but only two plates.
Once we arrived I set to cleaning all the surfaces and walls in the galley, I've asked my L&M to paint the inside of the kitchen cupboards white as they are very deep and dark.
This morning was taken up with meeting the people who are doing various repairs to the boat. There are boat safety repairs needed these were started over the weekend whilst we were there, the pram cover is leaking and the engine needs servicing.
Prices were discussed and bookings made, the jobs can't all be done at the same time otherwise everyone would be tripping over each other but they will all be done before we bring her down.
I only took a few photo's as it was raining most of the time.
A small canalware jug, it needs cleaning up, but it will them take pride of place on the shelf unit. |
Our mooring for this weekend, so pretty with all the spring flowers in bloom. |
The view from the galley window, across the basin in the rain. |

My brother's a ditch gypsy on the Thames too! His boat's not as posh as yours though, yours is gorgeous. Hope it works well for you!
So exciting, good luck in your new adventures. I hope you give us lots of updates and photos.
Sorry to hear the bedding wasnt there. I cant wait to hear about your new home!
Looks lovely!!!! Best wishes! It will be fun getting it all sorted out and starting over, so to speak!
Someone's pinched your bedding????? That's awful - a theft before you even start your boating lifestyle. It's a good job you'll eventually be living on board - and perhaps think about getting a dog as a deterrent, too - or a burglar alarm. I hope that will be the one and only theft. I'm so angry on your behalf. In all my years of camping in a tent, I have never had even one incident like that.
Thanks for your good wishes.
What part of the Thames Rachfishop, we will be travelling along some of it.
Rambler, the bedding wasn't 'ours' it was on the boat when we bought it and the boat was sold 'as seen' so everything on the boat was ours once we paid the deposit. It is possible the previous owners took it back or someone else who viewed the boat. Either way it shouldn't have been removed, but I'm not going to worry about it.
Hope you had bedding with you, otherwise it would be a cold night.
How wonderful to be able to wake up and look at something so wonderful.
I am deeply envious. x
If you like the canalware, you might want to visit Foxton Locks Museum sometime: they have a little shop there with more canalware available to buy :)
