Update

CHS has been moved on to a side ward, he was having trouble sleeping in the main ward. The lights were on full all the time, patients were being moved in and out and machines were beeping constantly.

It's beginning to dawn on him that he won't bounce back from this in a couple of days.

All I can do is keep reassuring him that it will be ok eventually.

Its a long road to recovery as we know only too well. Give CHS our regards when you see him. Glad they had a side ward they could put him in DB was not so lucky when he was in hospital.

I hope CHS can now get the rest he needs to help him with his recovery.

Hi Hester, I haven't commented before but read your blog. My husband had a stroke about 16 years ago,he had minor memory problems, he recovered well. He couldn't remember how to sign his name or dial his car number into a parking meter. He is still going strong at 78 years, able to do more than our 50 year old son. So take heart and take care. xx Kathy

Being in a hospital is hard on recovery when you need good sleep to work on that recovery. He is lucky to have a competent wife to help him along the way. Ana USA

I am glad to hear he is in a side ward - being with a lot of people in a very busy ward overnight is so distressing - he needs that sleep to aid his recovery.

Oh Sue I've only just seen this about CHS as I've been away for a few days.

How scary for you all, I'm so glad that he was found and treated so quickly.

Sending best wishes for a speedy recovery. Good thing that they've moved him as the main ward is never restful!

Big hugs Caroline xx

I hope getting some peace and quiet speeds his recovery. Praying it all turn out well for you both. Getting old sucks doesn't it? I've noticed my stamina has reduced this last year. Don't forget to look after yourself too.

Much nicer in a side room. Hope he continues to recover.

Glad he has been moved. I used to hate hospital for that very reason, noise. How you are supposed to rest in that environment I have never understood. Hope the recovery can now proceed.

Sending massive hugs. CHS has you on his side, though, and that means a lot. Father made a really good recovery back in the nineties from a v v v serious stroke and was up to mischief for years afterwards. IIRC he was still recovering and under quite a lot of therapy eight weeks later, so it took time, effort and a right attitude. And that's nothing you can't sort out for CHS. Also sending good vibes and a gentle reminder to be kind to yourself. Take care LM x

Baby steps, baby steps! He was treated very early which will give him the best road to recovery. Please take care of yourself Hester. How are you managing on the boat?

Hopefully he will get the rest he needs and starts feeling better. In the U.S. it seems the nurses are in your room every hour or so taking your blood pressure and temperature. How can anyone rest?

I've been reading your blog for ages and wanted to send along my good wishes for a speedy recovery for your husband. I was also wondering how you were managing the boat. Do you have to keep moving it?

Thanks for the update. I hope things get easier soon. Sometimes its best just to recover at home. Hospitals can be very noisy and disruptive. I hope he gets to go home soon. You take care of yourself too. Sometimes when we care for others we forget ourselves and we become run down.
