I've tried to persuade him to join something but unfortunately he deems everyone else an idiot, so he refuses to join anything!

I am just catching up on your blog. I often wondered how you managed to live on the boat. I am so glad you made the move. I have been trying to get my hubby to downsize into a smaller place as we are getting up in age but no go. Stubborn old fools! I did convince him to get rid of a lot of his junk so I guess that was a win. Please stay safe and secure and I hope for the best for you.

Sounds just like my father. He complained about not seeing anyone but wouldn't go to socials ie The British Legion, he was ex navy, because they were all old people. He was 92. He also went on a Warner holiday and complained it was full of old people and came home early. We never quite understood his reasoning. Su

Mine was reluctant, not because he thinks everyone else is an idiot, but because he would be going out of his comfort zone. When the Parkinsons nurse got the Occy Health bods involved, their lady persuaded him to at least give a couple of things a try, and he's now going to Tai Chi twice a month, and the Parkinsons support group once a month, and the best bit is he's enjoying them!
Such a shame Steve is so determined not to even try; I bet there's something out there that he'd enjoy if only he'd give himself a chance.
Ah well, you can lead a horse to water, and all that....
