Weather

We are due some rain on Friday, the garden could really do with some. Steve  is watering the landlords garden every evening for him. I think they are due back on Friday.

I'm thinking of buying some blankets, the heating costs here are included in the rent but I don't want to run up a massive bill for the landlord. There are no curtains in the cottage so I'm a bit  worried about keeping warm.

Any blankets will come in useful in our new place too as we'll need the heating on less if we keep ourselves warm.

As I sleep in odd places, blankets are something of a lifeline. I'll crawl out of bed and onto a chair in the middle of the night and burrow under a couple of blankets. Bear is usually draped in one as well.

If you see them, Aldi's plush blankets are lightweight warm and washable. If you can't get to a shop, they come up as special buys and you can order them online when they're in. In the past, I've bought cheap fleece by the metre as well. I'm also considering getting one of those cuddle hoodies, as bear seems to enjoy his. I couldn't manage without blankets.

And what an odd thing - to have no curtains! That's going to let the cold in.

Also, Beano will definitely need a snuggle blankie!

We did bring three blankets with us but two of them are covering the chair and sofa to protect them from Beano. The third is Beano's blanket for when it gets cold at night.

I see you are thinking ahead and planning for the change in weather. It won't be long before you need those blankets.

We have fleece backed quilts I made when we had the motorhome. Washed a ready for autumn use in the evenings. Catriona

Those over large hoodies are good as well, very thick fleece layers. You can get too hot in them as well!!

I think blankets and warm clothing should be on most people's minds with this winter to come and high energy bills. Layering up is very much cheaper than heating bills!

Since heat is included in the rent, I vote for curtains. They provide privacy and will help keep the house warmer. You can take them with you when you move. Lined curtains do a better job of conserving heat.

New neighbours.

A couple of days ago I met the couple who have purchased one of the flats here. The flat is over two floors, has two bedrooms, two bathrooms...
