Time slip

It's some years now since Steve had his stroke, in some ways he has recovered but in other ways, not.

When he first came round he was was confused obviously but gradually improved.

For me, one of the most heartbreaking aspects was Steve's conviction that he was still in his 30's and he could not understand why he had such an elderly wife.

His lack of understanding did improve but he still remains horrified at having such an elderly wife. I'm now 73 and he is 69, we had such a happy !marriage but that's all gone now.

Grief is so hard when not the traditional grieving of death which touches almost everyone at some time. But loss takes many forms and the grief for a relationship and future lost to stroke is real and devastating. So you struggle to live with the changed person whom you love while grieving the life you had and the person he was. You have my deepest sympathy.

Sue I can remember those days too. You both were so happy and full of fun.

JacquieB says it so beautifully. I don’t often comment but I look forward to your updates, and often tut tut to myself when I read about the things Steve does. I understand a bit better now.

That's so sad for you, you face so much with his changed ways too.. sending love.. but you keep going and my heart goes out to you when I read some of the things you have to do, to get around his odd ways. xxx

I'm sorry you both have this to struggle with. I wish there was something that could be done to make your situation better but I have no good suggestions as I know you have tried many things.
