A weight off my mind.

Cass had to go into town today to collect some school uniform, she arranged to meet Steve there and then took me along too. I know I needed to go but I had a very upset stomach leading up to her collecting me.

Meeting with Steve enabled me to close the joint account which is a great relief, I didn't like Steve being able to check up on my banking. I used the account rarely but still felt uncomfortable about it.

I'm not convinced that Beano recognised Steve, he seemed pretty disinterested but did take a dog treat from him so possibly did recognise him.

Steve wasn't happy about closing the, account but couldn't really argue, he had been checking the account regularly despite denying this.

We were civil to each other and Steve was very keen to show off his new tattoos. I'm not keen on tattoos and would never have one but then I'm a coward. Most of his old tattoos were done by friends so we're very amateurish and the new ones do look marginally better.

Steve gifted me a pendant it's a triquetra and it's very nice but rather heavy, it's engraved with sayings such as Speak with love, Know your power, Honour your word, See only with love, Be balanced, Blessed be. I'm not sure why he bought it for me but I accepted it politely.

Glad you managed to deal with the account. I expect Steve wants you back because he wants a housekeeper/nursemaid and is bored having to rant at himself. I've seen it with some of my friends, they get showered with flowers and gifts and great efforts are being made to show their best side. These old men just want their Mummy back to look after them. Stay strong!

I'm not surprised you had an upset stomach. It must be a relief to be disconnecting from him more and more. Giving you a pendant....hmm, is he hoping to win you back? You're far too sensible for that.

As long as it doesn’t contain a tracking device! And I’m only partly joking…

I didn't know what a triquetra was. Glad you got the banking taken care of.
I wouldn't accept presents from my ex.

When I had a problem with my ex and banking, someone working in the bank who attended my church, advised me to open my own account and leave the Joint account there.. It meant I could pay cheques with his name into it and take half out for me!

I can understand why this feels like such a weight off your mind. Closing the joint account must bring a real sense of relief and independence. I am glad you managed to get it sorted, especially when the thought of going was already making you so anxious. Wishing you calmer days ahead.

That’s good that your daughter helped you to deal with closing the bank account. Another link severed with a man who made you very unhappy. Well done.Catriona

Money for new tattoo's, well he's not on the breadline then! Gifts for you, being nice, giving trasts to Beano? All eyewash, here is a pinch of salt to add to his gestures. I hope that door is firmly closed and bolted against him now. Love to Beano, Sandra

Anyone who can waste money on tattoos can't ever plead poverty. If there wasn't already enough evidence that you've made the right move, this is more. I can imagine the relief now that the joint account is closed.
