My DD Lizzie works in an estate agency on a Saturday and has for about 5 years.
When she first started the two partners took it in turns to work alternate Saturday's but within 6 months they stopped working Saturday's and made Lizzie the Saturday office manager, the other staff were all advised of this.
Lizzie is ways happy to go the extra mile at work and often washes up and vacuums the floor before she leaves at the end of the day.
Last week there was a huge amount of data entry to do and no-one wanted to do it as it is boring.
So Lizzie ploughed through the work and it took her all day.
Just before the staff left at the end of the day Lizzie asked another staff member to wash up.
The woman refused, saying 'When did you become the office manager?'
Lizzie replied, 'About 4 years ago' and passed her a business card!

Priceless! Good for her.
It's amazing what some people WONT do..even though they are getting PAID to be there.... during the last big recession here, the shop I was working in went from crazy busy to dead. One day they were sending people home because business was so slow. The manager asked if I'd like to go home...or clean the toilets. I CLEANED THE TOILETS! I needed the money. Work is work. Good for your daughter!
I only had one person refuse to do a job at work, it was to sweep the floor. His reason was that it was "women,s" work. Within 30 minutes he had been to a disciplinary and was sacked and escorted off the premises. Apparently he told the HR manager and the Factory manager, both women, that if they wanted the floor swept they should go an do it.
I love it! A chip off the old block?

Round of applause please! x
I am clapping and cheering. Definitely a chip off the proverbial.
Whoopee. She dealt with it exactly right.
I think this is one of the most significant information for me.
And i’m glad reading your article.

I have always been a grafter but it amazes me how lazy some people are. We have people who on a daily basis leave for breaks five minutes early and come back more than 5 minutes late thus gaining themselves half an hour extra each day. They don't care how much this inconveniences their colleagues who are waiting for them to come back before they go on their own breaks. Most of these people 'go to the loo AKA go to check their phone' several times a day outside break times too. Unbelievable!
I used to run my own business and was once lectured by an employee about how I was doing it wrong, because I worked harder than anyone else!
We had a snooty woman who worked at the shop I worked at...when it wasn't busy, we cleaned...dusted, etc. The manager asked to wash the glass on the doors and she looked down her nose st her and said" I don't wash my OWN doors...."
I was working as a Ward Sister on a small unit. One of the Health Care Assistants refused to a certain task stating it wasn't a job she wanted to do, as the only difference between her role and mine was that I could do the drugs.
I then shut her down by saying and about twenty grand a year. Not strictly true but Oh my it worked.
