I once had a kitchen fitted and had to get the fitter, who was 6ft tall to lower the cupboard shelves as I couldn't reach them.
I did aquarobics for a few weeks but kept getting told off for swimming when I should have been walking, trouble was when I walked the water came over my head!
I cannot have an oven set in a tall unit as I can't reach to get things off the oven shelves.
I cannot reach a microwave what it is fitted above an oven.
I once had a rented flat where I couldn't see myself in any of the mirrors.
I struggle to get in and out of people carriers and trucks.
I get back ache on most chairs and sofas.
I get swollen ankles when I go out for a meal or to the pub as my legs don't reach the floor and they dangle.
Getting on to a bar stool is almost impossible.
Even when I lower the sun shield in a car the sun shines underneath it.
Car seat belts always cut across my neck even when on the lowest setting.
To reach the pedals in a car my nose is almost touching the windscreen.
I cannot reach the middle of my car windscreen to scrape the ice off.
I cannot reach things on the top shelves in a supermarket.
I struggle to hang washing on a rotary line.
I cannot see over the top of the boat to steer it.

As the title says, I have hit a bump in the road, not a physical one, but a bump never the less. Therefore I will not be posting for a while.

Now shrunk to 4 feet 10 I know exactly where you are coming from. My partner has to put everything in easy reach for me when he goes off for the day. I use a golfing 'lid' when driving as the sun visor as you say doesnt work. My feet swing in chairs and I am marooned. I think we should start a protest THINK SMALL PERSON.
But you have the advantage of fitting into aircraft seats.
I'm 5'1" and you've said it all. I knew my Pete was getting serious about me when he bought me a step stool to have in his kitchen!
I'm 5'2" if I stand up really tall so I feel your pain! Since I now walk with the aid of a cane I find it works well for pulling things off top shelves! I have 2 footstools about my apt. and have organized my place so that the majority of things are within easy reach.
To add insult to injury - I have a sister who is 6'1"!
Yep. I have kitchen ladders in almost every room. Unfortunately my daughter will be even shortet than I am, I'm so sorry for her i couldn't give her longer genes...
You might consider yourself small, but you can spell the longest word known to man going by your previous post and thats what I call a tall order! M.
Also having to have a stool to reach the toilet.
I know what its like !
You may be short in stature....but you are a giant in many other ways :) You have to be to keep all the strands of your life & family ticking over. xx
This is exactly me! the worst is the seatbelt strangling me.
The car visor is the worse thing, I bought one of those extension pieces that then fit onto the visor. I put it on and it fell off and hit me smartly on the nose! that idea did not work. Supermarket shelves are a horror, I usually look for a tall person and then apologise profusely while I ask them to pass something down.
Physically it is impossible to lift my eight year old grand daughter to see over walls, I cannot see either. I have a small buffet in the kitchen but I still struggle to see to wash and organise the tops of the units, and the very top of the units gets a perfunctory wipe with a wet cloth and a helping hand, not very hygienic. My husband is six feet tall, and like you I cannot see into any mirror, well I can just see the top of my head. He built the wardrobes and all the rails are so high up that I just hang things on the fronts of the wardrobes until he bothers to put things away. When we are in the car he can see over the walls and will insist on commenting about the lambs etc while I strain my neck and see the tops of the wall. Sorry about that rant but I think you put your finger on a problem that we both share. Love Andie xxx
Me, too, Ditto, ditto, and ditto! I have met some very nice tall people when I ask for help reaching something at the grocery store, though.
I share your pain. I can't reach the bottom of my washing machine. And as I get older I get shorter.
I am average height, but above average boobage and seat belts slide off due to the slope. I use one of these

It means the seat belt doesn't strangle me as I'm trying to work out which gear I am in and whether I should be there.
I know exactly where you are comi g from.
Yeah, but when you're 5'11" every supermarket trip lasts three times as long as every bugger going asks you to reach stuff on the high shelves for them.... :-D
I am 5 foot nothing and I feel your pain. I climb on the grocery shelves to get items off the top shelf. Use my BBQ tongs to get things off the top shelf in the cupboard. Both are not too wise to do.
Great things come in small packages.
Patricia
I am a 6' lady, which is pretty average for my area. Helping out shorter people in supermarkets, kitchens, etc., for me is 'noblesse oblige': I am tall and it is easy to reach, and doesn't cost me anything but a second of my time. I might ask you to grab something from a bottom shelf :)
I'm in the same boat (sorry about the pun) as you. Getting strangled by my seatbelt really gets on my nerves though
