Conkers

Thank you for all your kind comments.

For those who don't now, a conker is a horse chestnut.

Not to be mistaken for edible chestnuts which are delicious after being roasted in a brazier or in the ashes of a fire.

I've offered to collect some for a neighbour who is terrified of spiders.

I treated myself y'day to a salmon poke bowl, it was delicious, today I'm making chicken caesar salad. I get very lax about food so y'day I walked up to Lidl and stocked up with fresh salad stuff.

I had to Google 'salmon poke bowl' - I'd never heard of it before! I see it's available from Sainsbury's, my regular grocery supplier, so I might try it on my next order. Except it describes the salmon as 'raw'. Is that correct?

I didn't know that - I thought you could eat them all - Luckily I have only eaten shop bought chestnuts - Sounds like you eat healthier than me - I must increase my fresh vegs x

There is a kindergarten near me with a beautiful very large horse chestnut tree - the (young) mothers decided that as the conkers are poisonous to children they would ask the Council to take the tree down. One of the grandmothers started getting to the centre early in the morning to collect the conkers so that the tree could stay (it is still there 10 years later!). I personally think that you would only taste a conker once and not enough to get poisoned. Audrey

Alright, I'll ask the question, whats happened to your "better" half and that sweet Beano? I may be jumping to conclusions (probably wrong) that you are alone for now. I'm hoping that you are relaxing and all is well both emotionally and physically. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

It's not a secret.

Y'day while Steve was out with his friend Bob, Betty phoned and asked if I'd like to go and get the cheap vegetables from the nearby...
