Today CHS has been visited by the psychotherapist and the physiotherapist.
He's been given more exercises and activities to do.
Yesterday another boater gave us a leg of lamb and two joints, one of pork and one gammon. He is given a meat hamper every year but only eats beef and turkey. I cooked the gammon today. The lamb and pork I managed to squeeze into my freezer by being ruthless with some packaging and cooking today's and tomorrow's meals early and putting them in the fridge.
Huge hugs to those who are struggling and have taken the time to post supportive comments on my blog, especially anonymous who's husband has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's, it's a cruel disease.

As the title says, I have hit a bump in the road, not a physical one, but a bump never the less. Therefore I will not be posting for a while.

I miss the cuddles and the sex, I miss not being able to walk past him without him copping a feel. I miss his dreadful jokes and I miss him ...

Are the therapists surprised to visit a boat to do their thing? which I hope is all going very well so CHS can get about again
That was very kind of the other boater - work for you now but will be nice to have a variety of meat later. I'm about to do another reorg of my small freezer section to see if I can make a bit more room for some bargains.
I know there is a big storm causing issues all over the UK right now so I hope you are both safe and warm. Hopefully December will be a bit better than November (I always find it so grey & gloomy) and that things with your husband will continue to improve.
I meant to comment earlier but got side tracked myself with family issues. My father had had 'mini strokes' several years ago (2010, 2013) and finally, while I was visiting for his 90th b'day this past March, he had a major stroke, then a 2nd stroke and finally a 3rd stroke May 3rd. At that point after the 3rd stroke, rehab was going to be a mute point and Daddy made the choice to come home and do hospice at home. Daddy really thought he would get better and after a few weeks he realized that was not going to be the case. So I am so supportive of you and what it is like for a recovering stroke victim and their families. After dad's mini strokes, he had early dementia too. So it was long several years of decline for my Dad and finally this past year, when we finally lost him and he passed 8.29.2018. God bless you both.

Hang on in there, lots of positives. I love our NHS. Hope we dont lose it. Though it is on the cards.............
What a great meaty gift. Pleased things seem to be moving along and improving.
I am hoping your husband will continue to recover and you will not need to be a caretaker 24/7. I haven't been reading your blog all that long, so I am not quite sure what happened. My husband died with Alzheimer's 11 years ago. I still miss him. Still, I am blessed with three children and 4 grandchildren who all live very close. I send you both my wishes for all to go well in your life! Be well!
Hi, I just want to say how much I enjoy reading your blog. I'm fascinated by your brave decision to move onto the water and realise what a challenge that is given your sudden change of circumstances. My husband has had recent medical problems that have altered the dynamics of our life/relationship. Like you we are having to adapt to this and it isn't easy. Keep blogging you give a lot of pleasure doing so. Jan Butcherx
Thank you. It had been a particularly hard day before I posted the comment. You're right it is a cruel disease. Stealing from me the man I know and love. All best wishes to you for a good recovery for your husband and take care of yourself.
I haven't visited your blog for a while and was sorry to read that your husband had a stroke. I hope his recovery is steady and he keeps getting stronger. As someone else said - thank goodness for the NHS. I know people complain about it but I was so thankful for the NHS when Mum had her cancer. I live in America and she would have lost absolutely everything (if she could have even afforded the care). Take care!
