Valentines Day

And we will do what we have done for the last few years, ignore it!

There is steak in the freezer but Steve wanted roast pork so that's what I cooked for him.

It's raining here so hopefully we will be able to get across to the pump out by Tuesday.

We don't 'do' Valentine's Day either. Supermarket daffs on Saturday are my flowers at the moment.

We ignore it also. Many years ago in the early 60's I used to get lovely padded cards, wishI'd kept them now.

Our son was born on St Valentine's Day! (He's 34 now]. From then on, it was always a day of a children's party with lots of sandwiches, jellies and cakes!
As son got older, we'd often go out for a meal in the evening, not as a St Valentine's meal, but a birthday meal for son. We got tired of the comments from other diners, such as "Couldn't you find anyone to mind him?; Ooooh, how awful, having to drag your child along on a romantic date; Don't you mind having a child playing 'gooseberry' on your date night? etc. The first few times, I explained, then got fed up of it all, so got abrasive and rude. "Have you ever thought of minding your own business" and so on! It became easier to stay home but go out for a birthday meal on a different date!
Last night we had lots of goodies that I'd ordered from Fortnum & Mason and we have quite a lot left over for this evening too!
Husband did buy me a pair of Silver 'knot' earrings which he knew I liked, I bought him some Caramelised Mixed Nuts and a drum of Sea Salted Caramel Truffles, also from F&M.
We love F& M's soft yolk Scotch Eggs, so put an order in when we start getting desperate for them! To make the 'named day' postage worthwhile, I always order a few treats too! I'm mean that way!

We had roast pork too! My friend had brought us tulips and a card, another former neighbor sent a card so I set a nice Valentine's table with red tablecloth, red and white cutlery and napkins. A little red wine was enjoyed too! We were completely snowed in and the best news is that a thaw started last night! I was so worried I wouldn't be able to get to my Covid vaccine on Wednesday.

It's not a secret.

Y'day while Steve was out with his friend Bob, Betty phoned and asked if I'd like to go and get the cheap vegetables from the nearby...
