Fail

Steve thinks cruising with friends would be too much for us and he could be right. Personally I think the cruise he has planned will be too much as well.

Another failed loaf!

I used to be able to make nice bread but I seem to have lost the skill.

I find it really difficult to find a way of proving the dough, it needs to be somewhere warm. I can assure you there is nowhere warm on my boat!

Fill your sink with hot water and place your bowl of bread dough into the hot water and cover the bowl and sink with a thick towel. An hour later it will be ready to punch down. If you put it in a tin to have a standard loaf, put the tin and dough back in the sink of hot water for the second rise and repeat. If you make a cob shape, figure out how to elevate your cob above the hot water and how to keep the towel above the cob so it doesn't prevent the rise. I've done this for 20 years as I live in a house that is as cold as charity and it works a treat. Regards Fran

Just give it a longer time; try a recipe with an overnight rise.

It's not a secret.
