Bashed and battered, shaken and rattled.

Not a peaceful night last night, the wind blew mightily for most of the night.

We boinged against the jetty a few times and got generally bounced and rocked around throughout the night. CHS got up at one point to close the windows as they were rattling so.

We lost our chimney top, but we have lost a few over time, 3 or 4 at least, I'll order a new one tomorrow.

We fared better than some people on the marina, a lot if satellite dishes were hanging over the edges of the boats. We don't have a dish so we didn't have that problem.

There was also a tree down but it didn't do any damage fortunately.

Glad you weren't to badly effected, our wheelie bins went for a little walk around the garden as they'd just been emptied but that was as exciting as we got here.

I'm pleased you didn't have any serious damage. Apart from the noise of the wind no damage here.

Sorry, I've only just joined your readership, in what part of the world do you hang your hat?

WE once tried to turn a boat at the end of the Ashby canal in a gale - impossible!
Glad you had no serious damage

I must say it had never occurred to me that you would be buffeted by the gale - still only a chimney top lost is not too had.

Thank you for all your comments.

Sue, we've travelled along the Ashby, so beautiful, but very shallow.

Chris, we are on the Kennet and Avon, near Reading.

That Storm Aileen shook the timbers, didn't it? Glad you didn't suffer too much damage.
I was camping in my tent on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights, on a clifftop site on the north coast of Cornwall - such a lot of flapping and banging - very scary. But no rain penetrated and no damage done except for one of the guy ropes snapping. If only I had seen the storm warniings before I left . . .
