Please engage brain.

Before posting a review. I've been reading the reviews of the lodge we have booked in November.

Ones reviewer complained about the lack of places to walk their dog, I'm struggling to work out what sort of dog needs more that the 2000 miles of towpath available.

Another reviewer complained about the lack of view, the  lodge webpage states there are stunning views across the marina, the reviewer was not happy as all he could see were boats!

I live on the coast of Maine where we have very high tides. A news column staple is publishing tourist complaints that they checked into their seaside hotel in the evening and by morning the lovely ocean water had all disappeared. Angry requests for refunds often ensue.

That reminds me of Fawlty Towers when a customer complained about the view. Basil Fawlty asked her if she wanted - The hanging gardens of Bablyon or Wilderbeast majestically roaming across the plains. She said she couldn't see the sea and he pointed to a corner of the view and said - There it is!

You can never please everyone. Some people really can't see what's in front of them.

We once visited a castle with the most beautiful wildflower meadow around it, literally bursting with colourful blooms and alive with bees. There was a sign respectfully asking visitors not to walk on the flowers. As we stood admiring the view a man walked up and said "What f-ing flowers? I can't see any flowers!" As Frugal in Essex said, some people really can't see what's in front of them!

There is an artist that is doing these great WPA-style post cards of one-star Yelp reviews of American National Parks. They are hysterical. Grand Canyon was "A very large hole." For Arches, "Nothing like the license plate." Yosemite was "Too many gray rocks and trees block the view." Olympic National Park had "No Wow Factor."I've been to Olympic NP. If it can't Wow you, you're brain dead. Or as my mother used to say, some people wouldn't be happy if you hung them with a new rope.
