Freedom denied, and the search continues.

So much for my greatly anticipated freedom, CHS's appointments are now coming thick and fast.

Rehab gym on Monday's and Thursday's, it's a 15 minute drive there 45 minute session and 15 minute drive back, too far for me to return home. So I'm faced with sitting in the car freezing my bits off, brr. He had his assessment there yesterday at 11:30, I was too cold to crochet, it took me until 5 o'clock to warm up.
Stroke club on Tuesdays this is an all day event, but I can't see him wanting to attend as most of the people are a lot more unwell than he is.
Solicitors on Wednesday and Dr's on Friday.

As CHS rightly says there isn't a shortage of knit and natter groups, there are 5 within about 8 miles. The problem is my inability to attend them.
We have two evening groups that are out as they are along unlit roads.
There is on that cost's £7.50 that is out of my price range.
There is one on a Thursday morning that clashes with the rehab gym.
There is one more I need to investigate.

I'm sure if you ask nicely they would let you have your very own little 'knit and natter to myself' somewhere inside the building where CHS is having his therapy. You only need a chair in a corner somewhere. I bet you would soon be joined by other partners currently feeling banished to the car park too.

It is not safe or acceptable for you to have to sit in the car in freezing weather, Hester. You are your husband’s carer- have you applied for all of the necessary allowances? He will be in a mess if you are not cared for too during his rehab.
Is there a liibrary you can take your knitting to for an hour or two break for your mental health?

Take a hot water bottle with you and a thick blanket to wrap around your body when waiting in the car, is my advice to you.

Our knit and natter is held in the library and started by a notice on the counter asking if anyone was interested. Those that were just added their name/phone number to the list. It's a thriving group and the only charge is 50p for tea/coffee/chocolate and biscuits. Maureen

Smaller look few, there is no room the therapy gym is rammed with equipment, the corridor outside has no chairs and the door to the car park.

Nellie, I have been surprised by the lack of help, it may be because there are so many stroke survivors with a greater need than CHS.

I will do next time Heron's View, I was caught unawares as we were told there was a seating area for carers.

Maureen, the one I am checking out next week is in a nearby library.

Hello Hester, just a thought, would you be allowed to join in with hubbies therapy, just to keep him company? Jill

Hi Jill, no the place is really busy there in no facility for extras.

Hester, off topic I know, but I always read the name on your boat as 'Catastrophe'. Hope CHS continues to make a good recovery and you get some time to yourself.

Elaine, someone put a Christmas card on our boat addressed to Apocalypse.

Not very good for the environment Pat nor for my petrol budget.

It's a joke isn't it Kate.

It's hard to believe that someone would suggest sitting in the car with the engine running! Do they not care about the environment at all? Or perhaps they're American, where the environment doesn't matter and fuel is still cheap!
Definitely take a hotty bottle, a wooly hat, a flask of something hot, and wrap yourself and your feet in a blanket (don't forget it's there when you get out of the car though, I did that once, not pleasant!). If your feet are warm, you'll be more comfortable.
And......keep telling yourself it's temporary, and the weather should be getting warmer every day!

This weeks veg box.

Another nice selection of fruit and veg for this week, I'll share it with Betty again.
