Comments

Thank for all your lovely comments I really do appreciate them all.

I received an email this morning to say that stroke club will be closed for the foreseeable future, four months at least. Fortunately the email arrived before I started to make the forty portions of syrup pudding.

I really worry about some of the carers who will now get no respite at all.

The jumble sale in April has also been cancelled.

I'm wondering if I need to start carrying my driving licence around with me if the over 70's are told to self isolate. That way I can prove I'm under 70.

I may need mine also-THEY may send me back home as I'm looking a lot older than my 60 years at the moment as someone kindly informed me today x

Yes, take it with you , it will help to know it's there. We ( U.S.) have to have ours with us all the time when driving anyway, so are quite used to it. Now I am 75 I feel that the old photos when I was in my 60's look remarkably young!
I am so very glad that you had not made all those desserts!

It's a shame things are being cancelled, but vulnerable people (including carers) are between the devil and the deep blue - so no-one wants to take chances.
My husband has been informed today of three different events being cancelled in the next few weeks. The congregation at church yesterday was also greatly reduced. But what can you do?
Keep well, love, prayers and a hug x

I think it is still OK for us to go out now and again as long as we don't get too near one another.

Last week here in Canada, the schools, universities, public libraries, community centres, and theatres began to close, depending upon province. Canada Blooms and the Home Show, huge shows costing millions, announced they would not open, only hours before opening day. Restaurants began closing today.

Two hours ago, we closed our borders.

The Spanish influenza of 1918 killed 50 million to 22 million.

I am 70, recuperating from breast cancer, and with a virulent dormant staph infection in my body. Staying home is easy peasy. I have wine and Netflix.

Wishing the best for us all.

Sending all good vibes. It's going to be a tough few months, so hang on to your sanity in any way you can. Hugs x

I'm in Belgium, and we have closed all shops during the weekend, apart from foodstores and pharmacies. All events have been cancelled: sports clubs, creative clubs, religious meetings, dd's school sports week (that she was looking forward to), etc. All playgrounds have been closed, too, even the small ones in the local park.
DDs are home from school, and get sent homework assignments by their teachers, husband has been told to work from home, I have the option to work from home but not the intention yet.

ReadListen - I'm in Toronto - a friend and I were two of the last people in the ROM (Museum) last Friday and I will really miss not going to Canada Blooms.
I will be in the office for a couple of hours today & probably tomorrow but that should be it. We've pretty much shut down all our programs (I work at a large downtown church) and our Session will meet tonight to make it official. Ministers will probably try to do Sunday worship via lifestream or our YouTube channel.
I'm pretty much stocked up - always keep a decent pantry so no panic buying, I've also got stacks of books and Netflix.
Oh and Hester - one reason I'll be sure to have my ID card as a big drugstore and grocery chain have announced first hour of opening will be for seniors and disabled only! Oh and jury duty has been cancelled - I was due to report on March 23rd.
I hope the weather improves for you so that you can still enjoy a walk and some fresh air.

Stew

Y'days lamb was delicious and there is lots left. So today I'm making a stew, I'll use half of the left over lamb and add onion ...
