Lock down

This, along with the wool and a needle was left unsold at the end of the jumble sale I helped at last Saturday so I made a donation and it came home with me. There is a lot of black in it but I'm hoping that with a good light, a strong magnifier and a following wind that I will be able to complete it.

There will be no more jumble sales for a few months.

Stroke Club is closed for the foreseeable future.

DD1 and DD2 are staying home, some of the grandchildren aren't well. They have streaming colds and no temperature but they are not allowed to return to school. Mind you the schools are closed next week. I transferred some money to DD2 to tide her over.

Lots of people have decided to spend time on their boats as they self isolate so it's very busy here.
The marina office is running a reduced face to face service. Gas and coal will be dropped at the end of the jetty and payments are to be made by phone.

We did a slightly larger weekly shop today, an extra bottle of milk a jar of coffee and two extra tins. We cannot have shopping delivered here at the moment so we have to go out.

Apart from that, it's hunker down and sit it out.

Same here, Hester. I haven't spoken to anyone since yesterday and my next conversation will be with the cashier when I shop on Friday! Lots to do at home but may be forced to do some housework!

I get shopping delivered by Waitrose roughly once a fortnight, we go out shopping in between. However, it's impossible to even book a delivery slot these days. As a matter of interest, I also tried the websites for Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda and even Iceland, and there's not a chance of a delivery slot or even a collect from store slot at all for the next three weeks, at any of them!
It looks as though we'll have to take our chances by going out shopping!
I've queried with each of the supermarkets mentioned, why can people book delivery slots weeks in advance, not have to actually order anything, just book slot after slot after slot. This prevents other customers, who actually want to put in an order, doing so. Delivery slots should be made available to all customers one at a time, with no availability for a second slot until the first one has been fulfilled.
I am absolutely ashamed at the way some people are behaving, our daughter in law works at our local hospital (she's HR, not medical) and knows for certain that there have been cases of people actually stealing the big bottles of hand sanitiser from outside wards and clinics. One of the security men actually chased a robbing bastard across the car park on Tuesday; he caught him, got back the three bottles he had in his coat, but couldn't hold on to him.
What in the name of all that's Holy would make anyone think it was okay to steal from a hospital?
All we can do is keep on keeping on, and wishing we had a more effective PM, although I give thanks every day that at least we're not stuck with a lying moron like Trump!

Yes, this will bring out the best and the worst in people. I went to the grocery store yesterday but my DIL (who is a doctor) said I mustn't do that anymore. Just stay home. So that is what I plan on doing. My son can pick up what I need. Lots of projects I can do in the house, altho, I do take lots of time to just read blogs! I find it comforting and reassuring. So thanks, Hester, for posting whenever you can!

I haven't been reading blogs recently just tired and fed up so reading back on yours that you had a melt down cheered me up, because I had one the week before last. DH asked what I wanted for dinner I said what ever you want to make will suit, he does all the cooking, then he bombarded me with suggestions till my head was reeling so I yelled just bloody anything! I know I should be grateful and I am, but I wasn't well and it was all too much! Better now and said 'sorry' but I needed that yell. Don't you think we do now and then?

I work in a hospital and yes, the general public are thieves. Mask, sanitizer, anything that isn't nailed in place is stolen. Someone even figured out how to remove the sanitizer from the wallmounted caddies.

It's us boomer nurses that are showing up to work! The under 30s are calling off because of their children. School and childcare are closed here. Their little one has the sniffles, etc.

The average of a nurse on my ward today was 58.

you boomers are shutting down the entire economy because you're afraid of a flu. Seriously, can you boomers kill yourselves? You are the most selfish generation to ever exist. You don't give a shit about climate change, why should we young people give a shit if you get sick and die of some virus? I HOPE the virus gets much stronger and kills you all.

We’re down in Gulf Shores Alabama for vacation. They closed the beaches yesterday and the College kids on Spring Break are angry beyond belief. And they’re not going back to school, it’s been closed. They’re going home to Mom and Dad, Grandma and Grandpa. Rumors of a lockdown coming back home in Illinois, but we’re staying here till I have to go back to work
