Lockdown

I went shopping today for us and four other boaters. The queue to get into Sainsburys was an hour and ten minutes. It's ok once you are in and most shelves are stocked. I bought an Easter egg on the way round the shop, another customer was extremely rude to me when I let an elderly chap across to get a pack of butter. I cheerfully told her to fuck off but I thought the poor checkup staff must get this all the time.

I spent £140, but between five it's not too bad.

We still cannot leave the marina, most of the Red Boarding is over as the water level has reduced but all unnecessary journeys are banned. This means we are forking out £300 a month in fees. Whilst the sun is shining we are using solar power instead of shore power.

Steve's very stressed so I'm getting shouted at a lot, this morning it was because the plates I served breakfast on were cold, I have no way of warming them with no hot water and the stoves not lit. I also got shouted at because he put some paint in a jar and then couldn't get the jar open.

I worry about my youngest son, he is driving Blues and Twos when he's not on shift.

I'm trying to avoid shopping as much as possible now.

Love it! A friend of my father was out having her daily walk when a woman yelled at her from a distance to "get out of my way!" I said that I hope she yelled FUCK OFF back to her, but she didn't - she stepped into the road to let the ignoramus pass! I would have stuck my foot out as she went by. You make me laugh so much but understand it must be hellish for you at times.

Sending good vibes. It's not been so bad here, but who knows how it will go. £140 is almost certainly a bargain.

I admire you for standing in line for so long, and for shopping for other people as you did.
We have not been to a grocery store in almost two weeks but plan to go early next week. Have to make sure we do not leave anything off the list as we are so used to being able to just pop in and get something.
Good wishes for the next week on the water.

I've been thinking of you during these strange times - the difficulty of being with someone all day who is a grumpy galoot is very stressful in the best of times. We're at home on the farm with only a twice weekly trip a mile up the road to pickup our mail at the PO. It is normally quiet here but right now it reminds me of when I would visit my sister and BIL in the Four Corners area of NM. They had a home with spectacular views of the red mesas and it was bordered by native american reservations, national forest and national monuments. Truly the back of the beyond. 40 miles to any sort of store. So they would stock up once a month in Albuquerque and kept everything one could imagine - food, fresh flowers, wine, magazines and books galore. It truly was my heaven on earth. And NO ambient noise at all! Nor any lights. When a jet would fly over we would all look up, even if in the house, as it was such an odd sound. Could hear coyotes at night and my BIL went out every morning with a side arm (gun) and a huge stick to patrol around the house - mountain lions, bobcats and bears were common. Luckily he had spent summers with his grandfather in an old adobe ranch house with no services and learned the ways of the country. Not sure what triggered such a memory! In any event I have friends who say their dogs have never been walked so much in there lives! The legally sanctioned way to get out. Mary
