Aldermaston Wharf

Sue there are no visitor moorings at Aldermaston Wharf, we sometimes moor on the towpath below the lock and after the swing bridge but the people in the houses complain a lot so we don't stay for long.

One home owner became very irate and threatened to call the police when we moored. He had been assured by his estate agents that when he purchased his house it included the stretch of towpath in front of his garden. I phoned to check with the Canal and River Trust, when they stopped laughing they said the towpath definitely still belonged to them.

Above the lock the canal is too narrow for us to moor although narrow boats can moor there.

There is a small canal museum at the Wharf it is above the tea rooms where we have stopped for breakfast occasionally.

It sounds idyllic despite the grumpy homeowner. I can understand his annoyance if he was led astray by the real estate agent.

Real Estate salespeople will often tell you what you want to hear. I never 100%believe them and check out right of ways and important stuff before signing the offers.

I would never believe information from an estate agents, or any other sales person, they want to make a sale. Surely when purchasing a property you should check with your solicitor. So I don't have a lot of sympathy with the home owner.

Fancy thinking you own a section of tow path! What did he assume that people would leap over his bit and carry on further along!! I know the houses are bloody expensive in that area and most owners would assume they own the air in the space around them as well as the bricks and mortar but that is ridiculous.

It's a lovely part of the world, but grumpy home owners spoil it for everyone.

People! It seems there's always one who must complain.
Best ignore those if you can.

It would have been part and parcel of the searches done by a solicitor...they obviously didn't read them.

This weeks veg box.

Another nice selection of fruit and veg for this week, I'll share it with Betty again.
