Was the day of Steve's long awaited Drs appointment.
I've said all along that I think he either has gout or arthritis and I've suggested he keep his foot raised.
According to the Dr, Steve has either gout or arthritis and needs to keep his foot raised!
We can collect a prescription for painkillers tomorrow, he has to go back in two weeks to have a blood test and then return two weeks after that to get the results.

We thought my husband had gout, it was just in the big toe of one foot. Turned out to be arthritis. He has NO other arthritis in the rest of his body. I think that is odd.
My hubby has rheumatoid arthritis and lived in constant pain until the right combination of drugs were found. Hopefully a diagnosis will be found quickly.
JanF - I must be odd as well, my only arthritis is in my pinky on my left hand.
According to my Dr, I have 'Gouty Arthritis'! She says it is arthritis, but when I have a sudden flare up, it's very gout-like! Just to make things even more confusing, I DO actually have proper gout in both my big toes! I don't like gout at all, who wants to feel as though their feet are on fire? Certainly not me! X
Well, fancy that! Was Steve grateful to the doctor for giving that diagnosis? But hopefully, he will obey the Dr's instructions . . . .

Gout is painful. It has been a problem for my husband.
Fortunately where we live in NC,USA, he had only to go to a walk in clinic, see a
doctor or P.A., get a blood test and leave with a prescription. Usually in less than hour.
The co-pay was about $5.00. Our insurance company paid the rest.
He also paid a small co-pay for the medication. Weeks of untreated gout seems unreasonable.
