I use a large magnifier to enable me to see words on the screen. I am not blind yet, I just have visual disturbance. I hope this helps.

My mother has glasses with attached binoculars (similar to 'tv magnifying glass handsfree binocular glasses') on loan from the Dutch NHS (they live in the Netherlands). She is really happy with them.
