I refuse to wear a hat and coat indoors but don't want to pay a fortune on heating bills and at work there is never any guarantee that the heating will be working.
Today I wore a vest top, short sleeved tee shirt, long sleeved tee shirt and jumper, I was warm enough at work, just.
At home I sit under a quilt I made a few years ago.

Get yourself some ladies long underwear...Microfibre if possible...it is indispensable in the Canadian winter. I walked in -30C both to work and back and it worked well. Now I just wear the bottoms under my jeans or dress pants when it is really cold. Quilts are great too.

Agree with the thermal underwear under trousers - makes such a difference having that extra layer on your legs.
I find an old pair of ordinary tights under trousers a great help. The current fashion in Uk for chunky knitted thick tights is a bonus if wearing a skirt. Its chilly here too - so I am wearing my thick hiking socks!
