Testing

 No not covid tests!

DD2 couldn't remember why she's had her IQ tested but I could.

My oldest son has dyslexia and dyspraxia, as a kid he couldn't fart and chew gum at the same time.

If it's hereditary it came from my side of the family, in an effort to prove that my genes were faulty my then husband decided to have everyone's IQ tested!

DD1 refused, DS2 was probably too young. So just four of us were tested. I vaguely remember doing the test but at the time I was running a business, My mum was terminally ill and I was stressed up to the eyeballs.

I never did receive the result of my test I was told by my ex that my test results were inconclusive but I'm assuming I scored higher than he did, something that would have seriously pissed him off.

DS1 scored 135!

135 is seriously high.

One should take IQ tests with a big pinch of salt but it's still nice to get a high score.

Haha that's justice. Having dyslexia etc doesn't have anything to do with intelligence. Infact they are often gifted in other ways.

Sue,
Your DS1 having a high IQ score should teach a lesson to all those who label people who are a bit 'different'!
Through my work I met and taught many dyslexic older people, who had just been labelled as 'thick' during their schooldays, when in fact they were mostly very bright, but didn't have the opportunities that kids these days have.
My DiL is mildly Dyspraxic, mostly showing up as extreme clumsiness, but we're all aware of the kind of situation where she may struggle, so whenever possible, we make sure she's sitting down to hold anything valuable, because she's her own worst enemy, and if she worries about breaking something, she quite possibly will do so.
She's not daft though, she's a BSc. Msc. PhD.
A child with Dyslexia and/or Dyspraxia having a higher IQ than their siblings is quite common! X

Agree with Carruthers, should take with a pinch of salt. I tend to score highly on IQ type tests because I like those types of tests and am good at them. My partner does not do as well. When I compare our results the difference does not translate to that level of difference in IQ.

Had to smile at the story about the person suddenly losing interest because DS’s score was higher.

There are multiple intelligences. Many people seem to focus on just one. A range of abilities generally produces a more interesting personality.

We have a wardrobe in the bedroom that was left by the previous resident. It is perfectly sound but it smells of stinky feet. I've tried...
