No offence

Woohoo, there is a new series of No Offence starting soon on Channel Four, it's not for the faint hearted as it is crude and brutal, but I loved the first series and now there is a second series.

There is also another series of The Unforgotten starting soon.

I don't watch the soaps or the greed shows and I don't watch any program with 'celebrities' in, but I do love a good murder series.

Over the Christmas holidays I have overdosed on Miss Marple, Lewis, Midsomer Murders et al.

I also watch historical programs such as Wolf Hall.

I very rarely watch tv. I can't abide any of the soaps and I certainly don't like any of the celebrity programmes. I tend to like box sets of American murder/crime shows.
Downton was a big favourite but as that has finished now I can never find anything I want to watch.
Happy New Year to you and L&M-x-

Loved No Offence! Can't wait. Same writers as Shameless. I love murder mystery too. The Missing was ace. Liked The Fall. Enjoy decent historical stuff too but not period drama like Downton. Don't do soaps or celebs either. Looking forward to Sherlock tonight.

There was actually a Miss Marple I'd not seen before and Midsummer Murders keeps more actors in work than any other programme!

I overdosed on The Crown on Netflix and am now watching the first episode of The Good Wife ... makes a change from the rubbish that has been on the four or five main channels, with the exception of a prog on West Side Story in its 60th anniversary year, one about the staging of The Nutcracker (more about the dancers than the actual ballet, and the child performers in it) and also the Four Elderly Ones ... Wayne Sleep, Bobby George, Miriam Margolyes and Rosemary Shrager going made in in Florida and Japan, which was great fun. But the rest ... pure piffle. I have never seen No Offence.

Happy New Year! I love a good mystery/murder. I've been watching all of the Midsomer Murders on my Netflix. There is so much rubbish on American tv it's difficult to find a good series.

Thanks for the good wishes Linda.
Sheila I didn't watch Downton but there is a new series starting soon called the Halcyon, set in a hotel in the 1940's that you might like.
I will try to remember to watch Sherlock Eek.
Sue, I saw one Miss Marple from the beginning that previously I'd only caught the tail end of.
Prepared to shocked if you watch No Offence Margaret, it's a bit brutal.

Can't wait for something decent on TV and No Offence is top of our list too. Maigret and Sherlock being saved for "me time" as husband not so keen. We have been up and down the saved programmes and last night delighted in the history of the motorcycle craze of the 1950/60s. Husband would not confess to his being in Brighton but was very familiar with cafe culture and leather jackets!

We don't watch anything with celebrities in it, the exception was Bear Grylls Born Survivor. Going by the trailers I see of these celebrity programmes, the 'celebrities' are some wannabes I've never heard of. Not interested.

I absolutely love No Offence, it's brutal but the characters and acting in it are brilliant and amongst all that it's hilarious. Loved the massage scene and also the scene in the toilets from the last series. I can't remember the name of the large blonde lady but I love her character the best.

My husband and I have been watching Midsomer on Netflix for a couple of months...we had never heard of it before until a British friend told us about it. Looking forward to Sherlock tonight. I think we only watch one show on Network TV over here...mainly on Netflix!!

We have watched all the Midsomer Murders on Netflix...makes me nervous to visit rural England - just joking. We have also enjoyed the Miss Fisher series filmed in Australia. I love Sherlock as well.
Best wishes for a great 2017!

I laughed until I cried at the massage scene, it was brilliant, Joanna Scanlan is the actress who plays DI Deering.

I saw an interview with John Nettles the 1st Inspector Barnaby about Midsomer Murders and he joked about it being the most dangerous place in England.

We struggle so much as we don't watch soaps or anything celebrity. We only really watch murder or wildlife. What a mixture! Happy New Year. Jane xx

My TV died about 6 weeks ago but between Netflix and streaming on my laptop, I haven't missed it at all. I too have been overdosing on both Midsomer Murders and Poirot - just love the clothes from that time period - the attention to detail on that series was phenomenol!

We have very similar taste in tv. Did you see the new adaptation of ' Witness for the Prosecution'? I was so cross that they made it grim, ie added violence and sex scenes, that I couldn't watch it. That is not Agatha Christie, it is all implied, but not seen...

Jane, well nature can be brutal too.
Margie I love the clothes too, also the hats worn by Geraldine Mcewan as Miss Marple.
Debdor, no I didn't see it, but did read that it had a lot of added violence

Stew

Y'days lamb was delicious and there is lots left. So today I'm making a stew, I'll use half of the left over lamb and add onion ...
