Yet another bloody assessment

My poor CHS is assessed out, one this morning and he has another one next Friday.

It's frosty here but we don't need to leave the boat until 10:30 so we can take our time.

We need to collect coal from DD1 and possibly meet her new dog.

We also need to buy milk.

When we get home I need to clean through as everywhere is dusty.

You must be feeling very tired and the miserable weather certainly doesn't help. I was just catching up on your previous posts and wanted to say how much I sympathize with what you are going through. Of course you love him and take good care of him but even wives deserve a day off now and again. And really you'd be doing everyone a big favour by looking after yourself and being a wee bit selfish now and again.
I know that your daughters have a lot on their plans but as someone else suggested could CHS not go to them now and again, even for an afternoon. It would be someone else to chat to and even if he was just watching the telly at least you'd be able to get out on your now for a bit.
I am friendly with a woman at church whose husband has alzheimers (he is still at home) and it is both physically and mentally exhausting for her just with the day to day work and having to keep to a strict routine so it is easier for him to manage. Her son lives nearby and is a good help and she does go to a support group which she finds very helpful. And we keep and eye on her as well and encourage her to come out to lunch now and again, go for a long walk etc. - while she is still able to leave him on his own for a bit.
It seems ridiculous that out of 7 different categories your husband doesn't even qualify for one! It sounds as though they are deliberately making it as difficult as possible!
Feel free to have a moan whenever needed and please try to look after yourself.

Unless you are a carer I don't think anyone fully understands the mental and physical effect it has. I was a carer for my husband for six years (his funeral was today) and it was only the last nine months that I had help and was billed for.

If you're past pension age then you can't get Carer's Allowance but your husband should get some financial help, dependent on his age on which one, but get help filling in the form. Citizens Advice bureau or Age Concern offer this service free of charge.

There is help out there but finding what it is and how to get it is difficult.

Rescue dogs.

Every dog we had when I was a child was a rescue, not necessarily from a rehoming centre. Usually we got them because a friend or neighbour ...
