Hindsight

Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Of course mistakes have been made by governments but this isn't a situation that anyone in power has had experience of before.

Some people want to be protected.

Some people think they won't catch it.

Some people are worried about the long term financial implications of lock down.

Some people think there is no virus and the illness is caused by 5G or is made up so MML can be rolled out.

Each to his own, I shall do what I can to stay safe.

Agree completely, better a temporary lock-down than a permanent wooden overcoat.

Same as you, not been out shopping, walking, spoken to another soul since lockdown, I am protecting myself and others, we can all be carriers without knowing it, we are all walking time bombs, Stay at home, do not venture beyond your front door. Sarah Browne

Each to their own as you say, but for me I am taking the recommended precautions and staying home. I should add that I know how lucky I am with no financial worries.

Someone has made t-shirts here that say: "Six feet back or six feet down".
I read a good piece that made me think, tho. It starts out, "We are not in the same boat. I have heard that we are all in the same boat, but we are clearly not. We are in the same storm, but not the same boat..."
It ends with, "Each of us will emerge, in our own way, from this storm. It is very important to see beyond what is seen at first glance. Not just looking, actually seeing. We are all on different ships during this storm experiencing a very different journey." The poem is long but you can google the first line if you want to read the whole thing.
It made me think that really this is true not just during COVID but always, right? We don't always know another person's story so using kindness is always best.
Thanks for your post! I always like that your spirit and determination come through.

I love the analogy above about being in the same storm as opposed to boat. How we emerge from the storm will be down to each individual and their own personal circumstances. I reluctantly shop and walk the dog. Yes I'm getting cabin fever and feeling low but its needs to be done. What is MML?

It comes to mind that it's so easy to be flippant.
I read of people being bored with the lockdown, moaning that they can't go where they want, buy want they want etc. Someone was complaining because she couldn't get the ingredients to make sourdough, another couldn't get the lipstick she wanted.
Don't they watch or listen to the news anymore? Do they actually care for anything or anyone other than themselves?

"Hindsight" and "if only I'd known now!"
Think of all the 100s of things we all would have done differently in life if we'd known our own futures.

Here in New Zealand, the mood is the same as in the UK with so many different opinions but we have been much luckier with only one border (by air) and cruise ships banned. 21 deaths and 1500 cases out of 5 million people. We have had 16 5G cellphone towers set alight as (some) people think 5G has caused the pandemic, last night it was said that there is nothing different about 5G from 3 or 4G only speed but I bet those people also believe the earth is flat. I read "hindsight is 2020". Take care and stay safe. Audrey

Have you seen the YOUTUBE called Tom Foolery " the great realisation " which ends ......" that's why hindsight is 20/20 " Its in the form of a bedtime story read to a child in the future. Its beautiful. I am useless at links but if you give it a google its worth it. Other Coronavirus " worth watching/listening " are Max Boyce reading his new poem " Just the Tide went Out " and for light relief.............." Billy was a Twat " another story.

Stew

Y'days lamb was delicious and there is lots left. So today I'm making a stew, I'll use half of the left over lamb and add onion ...
