Crunch, crunch, crunch.

 The towpath has recently been resurfaced, it's wide and flat and a lot of people use it.

Because of the resurfacing it's noisy when people walk past.

It sounds like someone crunching celery.

It was quite disconcerting to start with but we're used to it now.
