You're late

Sitting on the back deck this morning with coffee. We were gongoozling, watching other boaters. There was a boat on the lock landing, a lot of people milling about but nothing happening. So I picked up a windlass and went to see if they needed help.

When I reached the lock landing an irate lady snapped at me.

 "You're late!"

 " Late? " I queried.

"Yes, late, you are meant to be here at 10:30 to open the locks and it's now 11 o'clock"

I started to explain that I wasn't a lockkeeper, just a boater who'd come to help but the silly cow just kept on ranting. So I turned around and walked back to my boat with her still shouting at me.

Eventually another boat came through the lock and the crew helped them through.

Hopefully they explained to her that most of the locks on the K&A aren't manned.

What a cow, I would have done just the same. Although the urge to push her in would have been strong.

What is the matter with people these days, they are all so aggressive. I really feel that I don't want to go out some days.
Have a good Sunday.

I am sorry. Here you were, thinking to do a good deed, and you got yelled at. That old saying, "No good deed goes unpunished."
Too bad things like this happen so frequently. May you have a peaceful Sunday.

Hi Hester, not related to this particular post as I wanted to make sure you saw it. Is there anyway we can help with the depression and or the hearing aids? I am sure someone could worked out a crowd funding page that many of us would willingly contribute to to help with private heard aids which are much quicker to get than NHS ones. As to the depression I would be happy to be available by email. You can also get help from RBLI for your sight issues. If you have a computer I can also recommend some reading software that might help? Sally. Contact me concorde178

Aggression does seem to have got worse since we were locked down - so has bad driving and impatience in shops.
Thought I heard something on the radio about water being lost on the Kennett and Avon leaving boats high and dry and sideways but it might have been on the river rather than the canal

Perhaps Anonymous could kindly crawl back under their stone and stay there? Just a suggestion.

Oh for heavens sake! How are these people even allowed out on the water! I would have loved to have seen the look on her face when you walked away!

Thank you for leaving! Rude people don’t deserve kindness at times!
Hope you have a good week. I love the drone picture!
