Not a good day.

Steve had a fall yesterday, he was emptying the ash pan and leant on a fence that wasn't there. He was uninjured but shaken up, as usual he decided to self medicate with alcohol.

I had a blood test this morning, I was quite excited as Steve had offered to stay home with Beano. I had planned to sneak into Sainsburys to look for new trousers. I only have two pairs and they are both full of holes.Qq

Unfortunately best laid plans and all that, my excitement must have shown and Steve decided to come with me, no new trousers this week then.

I did have a quick word with the nurse about my twitchy eye and I explained the ongoing problems caring for Steve. She was very kind and sympathetic. But her basic advice was "Suck it up sunshine".
There is nothing else to be done.

I really feel for you Hester. I'm glad Steve is ok but it's going to knock his confidence and therefore kick back on you.

I do hear you but I have a suggestion that might be something you could access. I lived in your area and my family could access Direct Payments. I wonder could Steve qualify for these ? With these I used to hire enthusiastic, thoughtful, trained support workers from adult Services and even better, some guys who worked in the fantastic special schools in the area. They were knowledgeable and unshakable ..............its almost " Rent a Friend ". You'd be able to relax cos you'd know CHS would be completely safe and it might be something CHS would come to enjoy. A day out being taken somewhere doing something just he would enjoy, whatever CHS hobbies are/were.

I'm not trying to be patronising, honestly. I see its incredibly difficult trying to find support for someone who has NO intention of needing support, its just a suggestion that I know has worked for a lot of people in your area. Good luck, I wish you the best.

Sending hugs and good vibes.

Can the GP prescribe for anxiety? That may help significantly. I know it feels wrong to drug someone, but in my view it is taking medicine to allow him (and you) to function.

Hope you get some luck soon.

There are probably thousands of us locked up with our disabled partners for the winter and its damned hard work. I managed a whole hour out yesterday with my son the first time in 6 weeks , just to pick up prescriptions ,because it was raining so hard he decided to stay home , it was like a release from prison. Though i got the whole why has it taken so long , why have you called at the Coop , bet youve ruined the mileage per gallon on the car. etc etc etc

Fingers crossed that Deborah's suggestion might work, especially as she lives in your area and knows what is available.
I hope you can get some kind of a break and buy those trousers, it would cheer you up no end.
I know you love it, but wouldn't living in a larger space be better for you both at this point?

I am sorry Hester. This does not sound like a workable situation. Our system is different. I wish that I had some advice that could help you.

Today.

I'm cooking the Sunday roast again today, I can't face another ruined meal at 8 o'clock at night with Steve either in a strop or...
