There seems to be a misunderstanding here.
We could afford a one bedroom flat in Reading.
Why on earth would I live in a flat with the same view out of the window every day.
On the boat, this is what I see.
I wasn't complaining about my life, I was complaining about the dickheads who were upset by my sense of humour.
I don't sleep well, I think it's an age thing, so I'm knackered, so are a lot of other people.
If you don't like my humour, don't read my blog.
Col, you made my laugh.
In other news, moving day went well, there was very little wind, I walked between some locks and travelled on the boat between others. CHS was knackered by the time we moored up so I persuaded him to stay onboard and watch the beef joint cook whilst I walked back for the car. I walked three miles in total, it would have been better with a dog, but it was a lovely walk.
Today I made 30 portions of chocolate sponge ready for Stroke Club tomorrow.
Also my blog will be changing soon, possibly in July, more on this later.

Oh no please don’t get a dog , that’s the last thing you need in your nomadic life and it honestly wouldn’t be fair to the dog.
What beautiful photos! I'm glad you're where you want to be.
Why would being on a boat with all that access to fresh air and scent not be fair to a dog, Id would say it would be a very lucky and well loved dog. From someone who has lived on a boat and has had dogs!
PS - Your photos reminded me how much I loved my boat and how much I miss it. Thankyou for sharing.
x
Lots of boaters have, dogs, big dogs, I know someone with three Rottweilers and someone with two Great Danes.
Unknown, I'm glad you enjoyed the photos.
I don't understand the person who keeps worrying that you are not where you want to be! For goodness sake you are a grown up why would you be doing something you didn't want to do! I think it's an amazing way of life.
(Re a dog on a boat = scenario = Colin is at the back of the boat steering, I'm walking along the bank, we are on a wide bit of canal - more of a river width, the doors are open right through and he sees Lucy the collie right up at the front with her front legs up on the side looking at me. He calls her but instead of going back through the boat she leaps off the side into the river! She HATES water! To rescue her I have to call her, lay on the bank in a patch of nettles and mud to reach her collar and pull a wet stinky dog onto dry land!!)
Oh Sue, that made me laugh.
I've decided not to feed the troll.
Good for you.x
Who on earth would want a flat in Reading or any other impersonal busy town?
I am sure it would be better for a dog to be in a one room flat, NOT. Live your life as you have, your pictures are beautiful.
As Jill above said - Good for you.
Lovely pictures. I live abut 250 yards from a canal and walk on the tow path whenever I can. It's beautiful. It's so nice too to see the barges either sailing past or moored. There are often dogs. One barge even had a cat, they were moored and the cat jumped onto the towpath and wandered about but jumped back onto the barge if it saw a dog coming. I asked the owner about it and he said they had a dog too that was out with his wife, they'd had the cat for 5 years and it hadn't ever had any mishaps, it didn't stray far from the boat wherever they moored.
Enjoy your idyllic life, it may not be carefree right now but you can have worries wherever you live, you just happen to be able to live in beautiful countryside.
I wouldn't want to live in a flat anywhere, I would rather live in a field. Since reading Cruising the Cut I am very much drawn to the nomadic lifestyle, but all the technicalities of running a boat are beyond me. I think you have a great lifestyle.
Thanks Meanqueen, we love the life. If you enjoy cruising the cut you might like journeys with Jonno.
